THE CONCEPT OF TRACK JUMPING:
Original, bold and relevant, Track Jumpingcrosses boundaries of the spiritual and secular. "Those boundaries are a blur; innately interwoven" says Tone, "You connect deeply in music by immersion into the entire musical experience; the world the artists create in the atmosphere of a song. Love, longing, life, death; these artists sing about the same experiences philosophers, priests and poets have always wrestled with. You and I are bound by common human experience and in the foundational questions that come from these ideas which inevitably lead to questions about God who lives in and works through the music.” Track Jumping joins the artists in the expression. We talk about it. We learn from it. Track Jumping transcends mere music fandom, it’s connection; relationship and it’s real."
THE MEANING OF THE SHOW'S NAME:
The name Track Jumping has a couple of meanings; one is that on the show we jump from one musical track to another - Track Jumping! The other meaning is deeper. There's an old expression when someone lives in an area that's considered less desirable, less prosperous or risky; it's said that they live "on the other side of the tracks". It has even been said as "the wrong side of the tracks". The term originates from and refers to communities that were at first physically divided by railroad tracks. Later the tracks evolved into a symbolic barrier between socioeconomic classes; between prosperous and less prosperous residents. To jump the proverbial tracks is to consciously choose to cross a boundary in an effort to lead in reconciling those divided halves of community. To jump is to act. It represents a decision to move into an area that is perceived as having less value. However, like most things in life, the reality is almost never the same as the perception and in fact, the other side of the tracks is every bit as valuable as the "right side" of the tracks.
WHERE THE IDEA FOR TRACK JUMPING CAME FROM:
"I love music; always have", says Tone, creator of Track Jumping. "I used to give 'movie talks' at colleges where I'd take scenes from movies to illustrate points about how to better understand God and ourselves. It was a pretty new idea then, but nobody was doing the same thing with music. I've been an alt and indie lover since forever and with my media experience, it was a natural connection for me. It's so cool to be able see God moving through people, art; everywhere. I share what I see. God, Jesus, have always worked in the cultures of the world throughout time. It was natural for Track Jumping to come along to point it out." Through timely relationships, what others might call happenstance and with the help of some gifted artists, Track Jumping became real. That explains the show and the reason for the studio, True Tone Studios, LLC truetonestudios.com. WHY TRACK JUMPING MATTERS:
Track Jumping offers a different perspective. We desire to walk our own way, to see things not everyone sees from a vantage point few are strong enough to take; to push the norm; to cross a boundary. Join us. Jump those boundaries, those tracks and see the world from a different aspect. Cross musical, social and religious boundaries with Track Jumping. This isn'’t about self indulgence or telling people what they should believe, it's offering ideas you may have not yet considered in an effort to expand your thinking. The result is that Track Jumping is affecting lives in real ways. Track Jumping helps alt lovers to appreciate their music on new levels. To love music in richer ways and expand our thinking to something much bigger than ourselves can be revolutionary. For those who know God, learning to see His presence in music can be just as liberating. Through the show different people groups discover depth and relate better to each other. That exciting and it matters.
OUR TAG LINE; WHAT IT MEANS TO "LIVE IN THE MUSIC":
Music is kinetic. It moves, grows, breathes; in a sense it lives, but there’'s more to it than that. Like the rest of the Track Jumping story and God’'s story, there are layers. You can look at it as "“Live in the music”", which can mean that you connect with the artists so deeply that you feel most alive when steeping in your favorite music. It lives with you where you are, your MP3 player, your phone, your car, your house, your garage, your wherever. It can also mean that what the artists are singing about and the music they create to surround those words which brings them to life gives you hope. In hope there’'s life. You can see it as “"Live in the music"”, emphasizing the place where you find life. You get the idea. (We can get a little hung up on philosophy around here if you hadn’t noticed.) Live in the music: Penetrates rock fandom and finds keys to life. Rock and think; that’'s what it is to live in the music.
