Lexi Marman was born on July 9th in Mission Viejo, California. Being born into a strong theatrical family background - she knew at a young age that performing was her calling. At age 7, Lexi shot her first Disneyland Commercial and was picked out of a group of kids to dance/perform for a Disneyland Dance Promo. From age 9 to 13, Lexi traveled all over California with a singing and dancing group and was involved in numerous plays. She won an award at the age of 13 for her portrayal as Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker". In high school, Lexi choreographed a cheerleading dance for the Variety show featuring all Deaf dancers. Orange County Network interviewed the group and featured it as an "inspirational story" on the news segement of the week. At the end of her Junior Year, Lexi was cast to work and perform with Mickey Mouse at Disneyland, California. She was the first Deaf/Hard of Hearing Entertainment Host hired to perform on the Disneyland stage.
Lexi attended California State University of Northridge, first majoring in Theatre and then switching to Cinema, Television and Film with the emphasis of Directing and Screenwriting. Southern California News Network KTLA came to a class and she was picked as one of the top students in the deparment to be interviewed and followed. While in college, Lexi competed in the Miss Deaf Cal State Northridge Pageant and won. She went on to compete in the Miss Deaf Calfornia Pageant in Lake Tahoe, California. It was there when she won the title of Miss Deaf California and held the reign for two years. She was chosen as one of the top finalist for FORD'S Model Seach in 2006. Lexi was cast in a theater group from Cal State Northridge that traveled all over the U.S. performing an intense play about the effects of teenagers invovled in drugs, alcohol and violence. Throughout college, Lexi has been involved in a positive public speaking awareness group called " The Disability Awareness Foundation" where she has received many credits and praise for being a role model to young children all over Southern California.
Lexi was a part of an amazing dance troupe named PTERO created by Paula Present where she performed with talented dancers and used sign language to express the words of the song along with modern dance. After college, Lexi was hired at Universal Studios as a Casting Director/Performer. She booked a role on CBS "WITHOUT A TRACE" as a young detective named Maya that can lip-read. In the summer of 2008, Lexi was picked and selected to be a Studio Tour Guide for Universal Studios. After passing the grueling training, Lexi celebrated along with her new co-workers of being the first Deaf Tour Guide ever hired at Universal Studios. It was an honor to be hired based on her talent - her Deafness was in fact a challenge and a big consderation of whether or not she could pass due to safety reasons. With her determination and Universal's amazing staff - she is now a part of Universal History. In Fall 2008, Lexi auditioned and made the cut of 20 actors to perform in the NBC/UNIVERSAL SHOWCASE. In the Winter of 2008, Lexi landed a role the theatrical production of "A Christmas Carol" at the Edgemar Theater in Santa Monica, CA directed by Corey Allen and Tom Ardavany. She received praise and rave reviews for her role of Dora.
In Winter 2009, Lexi went to New York to film the SAG Feature "HAMILL" by FilmHarvest. The inspirational story is about Matt Hamill, a Deaf MMA UFC fighter. It will be released this Summer/Fall and premieres will be in both New York and Los Angeles. After filming Hamill for a month in New York, Lexi came back to Los Angeles to perform in the NBC/UNIVERSAL SHOWCASE. She performed a comedy two person scene that she had written for the Showcase. It was a huge succes! Lexi was hand picked to perform for award winning television show on FOX, GLEE. It was an a honor to be able to perform John Lennon's song, make great friends and work wtih such a fun cast. In Fall/Winter 2010 Lexi will be in San Francisco shooting another SAG feature, "Modus Operandi". She looks forward to being able to showcase her talent and playing the complex and challenging role of Charlene. After shooting several short films, Lexi was asked to shoot a PSA of California OneShare. She recently booked a modeling gig for SPRINT's upcoming print work. Lexi currently studies under Acting teacher David Zimmerman, Cory Allen and Tom Ardavany.
Lexi is currently shooting a documentary about being in the Entertainment industry and living in Los Angeles.
