Education is my passion. Whether it is the educating of others or my own learning, I am ever enthralled by it.
Creativity is one of the most intriguing traits of human beings. Indeed, it is our seemingly endless creativity that most distuinguishes us from the animals.
Creativity is based on what we know and how we think. If children are not given the opportunity to experience things and then challenged to think and imagine about things in their own world, they will never reveal their true talents.
The more I develop my sense of what my role is in the elementary school, the more I am convinced that creativity should be an essential component of the core education of every child. We desperately need to steer our path away from the over emphasis on general math, writing and science test scores and towards general competency and exceptional creativity.
It is my belief that public schools should be charged with supplying competence in academics while providing avenues to pursue our talents.
