Lesley Dame is on a mission: bring poetry to the people. As a poet, editor, and blogger, she's slowly convincing the masses that poetry is the best thing since sliced whole-wheat bread.
Dame had her first taste of editing as a poetry editor for The Fourth River , Chatham University's literary publication, where she received her MFA in 2005. As co-founder, poetry, and nonfiction editor for damselfly press , she experiences the daily elation of reading poems and essays by women from all over the world.
Dame writes poetry, essays, and reviews, which can be found in many print and online publications, and is the author of Letting Out the Ghosts , a poetry chapbook (Earl & Crouch Press 2006). Although a cast of characters has set down permanent residence in her head, she's terrified of fiction. Her novel about a young woman, an older man, and a bear has been reinventing itself since 2005.
Also a writing tutor for high school and college students, Dame spends a lot of time brushing up on grammar and punctuation rules, which has become quite a satisfying hobby.
When she's not engrossed with reading, writing, and editing, Dame is a full-time mommy living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She spends her free time goofing off with her son, Niko, and her partner, Kevyn.
