Lend a Hand's mission is to assist and strengthen the Juneau County Community by addressing the needs of limited income individuals and families, aiding them to become self-sufficient, and creating public awareness and education while serving as a resource to those touched by unexpected emergencies as they cope with housing uncertainty.
Our story on how we began is a simple one. It all started from an article in a September 2009 article in The Messenger of Juneau County that highlighted the unseen in our rural community; the homeless.
On October 1, 2009 people from throughout our county came together for a first of many meetings to come, and without realizing it at the time were in the process of creating an organization that would help to lift not only the spirits and hopes of those experiecing economic hardships, but also the spirits of everyone that would come in contact of our newly formed group; Lend A Hand.
The Juneau County Peace Committee agreed to be our fiscal agent so that we could raise the needed funds to help provide shelter for those in need from the brutal winter that was fast approaching.
Within 6 weeks of that first meeting we provided a Thanksgiving meal for over 80 people and have since helped many more with temporary shelter...our story continues.................
