Team Ropers Head to Finals
Sunday May 15th was the last of the team roping series “No Short End of the Stick”. Qualified ropers from this series will now move into a finals round on June 12th and battle it out for over $1500 in added money to finals jackpots and a couple of custom made saddles. There are 62 ropers in this series, and 28 have qualified for the finals round. Among those 28 is 12 year old Karsten Havell whom is grinning pretty largely about his latest win on Sunday. More so to do with the fact that he has won more money than his Dad throughout this series.
Genie Harry has put emphasis on the phrase “girls rule” by holding her Hi Point Header title in the number 6 roping with 35 points. Genie has a 10 point lead over the number 8 Hi Point Header which is herself. Genie is not the only gal ruling the series. On Sunday Genie had the luck of the draw with Agnes Lambert taking down their 4 steers with a time of 59.13 seconds earning them first place in the 8 category. Heeler Georgia Barber also put her name on the score board with partner Trevor Bramwell for 5th place in the number 6 category.
Ross Bohnett handed down his title as Hi Point Heeler to Reg Werklund. Reg earned himself 11 points on Sunday by winning first, second and fourth place in the number 6 with partners Genie Harry and Troy Yuill. Reg holds a 3 point lead ahead of Ross Bohnett going into the finals round. Reg has also cleaned up on the jackpots making him the third highest earner in the series with $1,825.00 under his belt.
