On Saturday, September 18, 2010, the Central A & M High School Student Council will be hosting a community bike ride and cookout in an effort to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research.
The bike ride will start in Assumption at the Middle School, proceed down Highway 51, and finish at the High School in Moweaqua. The bike ride will start at 10:30 a.m. with check-in beginning at 10:00 a.m. It is strongly suggested that all riders wear helmets. Trailers will be available in Moweaqua before the bike ride to haul bikes to Assumption and will be in Moweaqua after the bike ride to haul bikes back to Assumption. Transportation for riders will also be provided to the Middle School before and after the ride. Riders participating in the bike ride who will need transportation to Assumption before the bike ride will need to meet at the High School at 9:15 a.m. Departure time from Moweaqua will be at 9:45 a.m. A cookout will take place in Moweaqua at the conclusion of the bike ride. Trailers and buses will again be available to transport bikes and people back to Assumption.
We are asking for a $5.00 donation towards our cause. Pink event t-shirts are also available for purchase for $10.00. The last day to place an order for a t-shirt is September 9, 2010. Please pre-register in the High School office by September 9, 2010. Registration forms are available at the High School office in Moweaqua, the Middle School office in Assumption, and the District Office in Assumption. Completed registration forms and fees may be dropped off at any of the above locations. Questions about the bike ride can be directed to Steve or Marcia Berg at the High School, 768-3866.

WHO WE ARE
Central A&M High School is located in Moweaqua, IL. The school is consolidated from the former Moweaqua and Assumption districts. Central A&M has a proud heritage of supporting our communities and of our communities supporting us.
WHAT WE DO
Last year was the first year that Real Men Wear Pink was organized in our area. Millikin University and St. Mary's Hospital sponsored the event. Lori Kerans, girls basketball coach at Millikin University, coordinated the event. Ms. Kerans is a breast cancer survivor. Our student council organized a bike fride from Assumption to Moweaqua, a Fill-The-Boots activity and a 3-point shoot out. Our FCCLA sold pink ribbon cookies and cupcakes and sponsored a "Puttin' for Pink" contest.
WHY WE DO IT
Everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer. We see this cause as a way that we can give back to our community.
