To age and give texture to your paintwork apply the clear wax first then apply apply the dark wax. Wipe off the excess then use the clear wax to take more off if you need to, but leave the dark wax in the recesses. You can colour the dark wax to make it less brown by using a little of our paint in the wax. Use Old White to make white wax or a bit of Aubusson to make the wax almost black Apply with a brush or rag.

How many times have you seen those distressed pieces with that hand-rubbed lustre and velvety matte finish and thought, 'I could do that”?' Well now is your chance to put that thought into action! This class teaches you everything you need to know to create the look at a fraction of the cost. Students will learn the basics of how to apply one or two colours of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, different distressing techniques and the proper application of Annie Sloan Soft Wax. Each student will leave with 6 different beautiful samples and the enthusiasm and expertise to go home and finish a piece of furniture!

Class includes all supplies needed - just show up in your painting clothes!

This class is designed for students who simply want to refinish a piece of furniture they already own but don’'t know how to finish, let alone, how to start! I will provide inspiration, design ideas and support while you refinish your piece in class. Due to the one-day length of class, it is not possible to complete complex work, so keep your piece fairly small and restrict your finishes to those that would be covered in the beginner class. This is a great way for students to learn one finish with the guidance of an experienced instructor and then apply that hands on practice to the recipes and techniques covered in the Beginner class.

Class includes all supplies needed.

If you want us to ship your oder, please contact us before placing your order so we can give you an idea of the shipping costs and together we will find the most effective way to ship it to you. You can also make arrangements to pick up your order by appointment during the week from our studio in Calgary or during regular business hours on the weekends.

About Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

This is THE paint to use for the painted French and Swedish look on furniture where the paintwork shows a patina of history. The paint is soft and easy to patinate taking wax to give it a beautiful mellow and protective finish. The colours have been inspired by European 18th century furniture and have been made bright and rich, bearing in mind that they will darken with an application of wax. Like all annieSLOAN paints none of the colours except Graphite contain black pigment, allowing for combining colours, further mixing and layering without the paint dulling.

For Garden furniture - paint over wood, metal, matte plastic or terracotta and leave to harden overnight before exposing to rain. No need to varnish or wax matte walls - use on walls for a completely matt effect but remember this is best for anywhere that is not going to get a lot of wear and tear.

On a practical note, the woodwork NEEDS NO PRIMING & NO PREPARATION as it will stick to almost everything -old waxed pine, melamine and varnished wood included. Great coverage but does depend on what you are painting, but a rough guide is 13 square metres.

The paint is a simple eco friendly water based paint.
