Laura Slockett
As an aspiring graphic designer I am always looking at existing designs and thinking about what I would do differently. I find myself making mental notes on what I like and don’t like about a design, cataloguing what works and what doesn’t. I strive to create strong, well focused, and cohesive designs that connect to the viewer in a positive way. I am fascinated by the power of a great design. It can inspire one to buy a product or go to an event that they may not have done otherwise. Coming from an extensive art education background that encompassed fine arts, multimedia, and crafts, I love to use multi digital media in my designs, crafted with a fine art edge.I cannot remember a time when I wasnt interested in art nor a time when I didnt find using computers natural and intuitive. However, it wasnt until my junior year at Kutztown University that I found a connection between my two loves in graphic design. With one class, I became instantly fascinated by graphic design and digital art, and made the decision to pursue a career in the field. I graduated from Kutztown University with a BFA in Fine Art Crafts in December 2009 and continued my education in graphic design at Bergen Community College. Having completed an internship at Next Generation Beverage Co. in Hoboken , NJ, I am now working on a variety of freelance work. I love that each job is unique onto itself, due to the nature of this client-driven industry. With each unique project, I continue increasing my knowledge base & improving my skills, and always adapting in this ever-changing art form.
