Laura Koelle Pyle, born and raised in Chicago, IL, recently moved to Greenville after being married in June of 2009. In addition to performing for churches, social events, and weddings, Laura performs regularly with the Foothills Philharmonic Orchestra and maintains a private string and woodwind teaching studio.
Laura has been heavily involved in music from a very young age and has studied several string and woodwind instruments. She began violin lessons at age 6 and over the years studied piano, flute, alto saxophone, clarinet, harp, and guitar. After 5 years of Suzuki violin training, Laura transferred to the cello in elementary school and has since then been known primarily as a cellist.
Laura received her degree in Music Education, Cello Principal (B.S.) from Clearwater Christian College in Florida. As a student she underwent teacher certification training in elementary, middle and high school music programs. She served as an orchestra intern at Coleman Middle School in Tampa where she worked hands-on with 6th-8th grade string orchestras. She passed all components of the Florida Teacher Certification Examination and is now certified to teach music K-12. Laura currently studies with renowned cellist Kenneth Law, Assistant Professor of Violoncello at Converse College in South Carolina. She plans to pursue her master’s degree in cello performance there in the near future.
Laura currently attends Downtown Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC, and lives in the downtown area with husband Caleb Pyle and puppy Gomer.
