The Company and our Local have been working on a decrease in the amount of open grievances. HOORAY! 8-27-10 We are hearing a lot of complaints about excessive overtime.... If you have been over 9.5 three times in one week you qualify to go on the "Opt - in list". This enables you to file a grievances for being over 9.5 three times in a week within the next 5 months ( excluding November and December ). You can also use 8 hour requests ( 2 per month ) to get out of work early. We highly advise taking advantage of these steps for work reduction. The Teamster Convention is the highest body of our union. The entire Teamster Constitution will be up for review with every article in it up for possible amendment or change and all delegates get a vote. The Teamster Convention will also nominate candidates to run for Teamster president, and all the vice president positions.2-20-11 We are going to start a "Part Timer" section. We had a low voter turn out with approximately 17% of the local actually contributing to the election process. We will need much more union member involvement to keep the standard of living and benefits we currently have. The fight for our contract starts now so get members involved before it is too late to address contract concerns! 3-5-11 The "9.5 Opt-in Form" has been taken off the "Quick Links" section due to a change in procedure. The employee will now file a grievance and be added directly to the "District Opt-in list" to be monitored. If any further violations occur it may be grieved for penalty pay.3-12-11 March & Rally for Our Communities, Our Jobs! The road to a stronger Union starts with us and our involvement. It is up to us to organize and not let the deceitfulness that happened in Wisconsin spread throughout the country. Now more than ever we need to assemble members to protect our contracts and way of living. Join us in the rally on March 26,2011. 3-31-11 A massive labor-organized march in support of collective bargaining rights and better-paying jobs rallied on "Solidarity Saturday." in downtown Los Angeles. Police estimated between 5,000 and 8,000 people attended the protest, which ended in a packed rally at Pershing Square. The event comes in response to the Wisconsin legislature's approval of a bill this month that curtails the collective bargaining rights of many unions and follows a weeks-long battle. We want to thank 952 members for attending. 4-8-11 THE PUBLIC HAS 30 DAYS to submit comments, concerns or objections regarding the Pilot Program on NAFTA Long-Haul Trucking provisions. It is the proposal for the initiation of a United States-Mexico cross-border long-haul trucking pilot program to test and demonstrate the ability of Mexico-based motor carriers to operate safely in the United States. Click here to post a comment and help save our jobs! 4-24-11 Happy Easter! 4-28-11 We thank all members of local 952 for their participation in the "National Day of Action" on Thursday April 28th at UPS in Laguna and Anaheim. Drivers wore stickers to protest the unfair harassment and production standards UPS is trying to impose upon our bargaining unit members. This day was also National Workers Memorial Day and a strong showing of Teamster unity!5-13-11 The 10th Annual Flag Day Celebration is on Saturday, June 11 form 12-3 pm at Teamsters Local 952 in Orange. An all American picnic of hot dogs and apple pie kicks off the celebration and is followed by patriotic music and speeches, recognition of veterans and active duty military, and awards. The event is free and open to all. Remember, the fight for our contract starts now so start getting involved with the Union and be a part of the action before its too late.
