La Creme de la Prem is a new and unique concept. It was originally designed for premature babies , as well as their families once they have been discharged from the hospital and are ready to go home.
La Creme de la Prem is a support and activity centre specifically designed for premature babies, who, are too fragile to integrate into social environments with other newborn babies.
Often, parents of preemies are advised not to surround their babies with other children or numerous adults until they are at least a corrected age of one year. This will allow their immune systems to develop without the added worry of being in contact with others who may have a virus as "simple" as a cold
Mothers of prems often have questions that mothers of term babies cannot understand. It is wonderful for these parents to have others in a similar situation; to talk to, confide in and learn from.
Melissa Gentile-Menard (right) and Cecilia Finoli (left) are both Registered Nurses specializing in Neonatal ICU (Intensive Care Unit) care. Both are now Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMI) as well as IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants).
Karen Perl (below, with her son Ethan) is the mother of premature twin boys, born almost 15 weeks early. With the months that she spent in the NICU, she knew that there was need for support and specific activities for prems and their parents once they were to be discharged home. And so together, the three ladies embarked on making La Creme de la Prem a reality! In February , Karen decided to step back for personal reasons, but still continues cheering La Creme de la Prem on!
We soon realized and were approached by many moms that they would like the same services be available to their children. So with this in mind we decided to expand CDLP's focus and include support groups, classes and activities for parents of term babies too!
At La Creme de la Prem we strive to offer an array of different activities, groups and professionals such as those listed in our services tab.

Swaddling. Breastfeeding. Lactation consultant. All new words in our vocabulary since the exhilarating moment we found out we were going to have a wee babe. But what does it all mean?
No need to try to distinguish fact from fiction or succumb to our fears of labour and delivery and those first few days of motherhood thanks to La Crème de la Prem. This company offers all the classes we need to prepare us and get us through pregnancy, delivery and beyond.
From breastfeeding ($40/2 classes) to prenatal ($185) and baby massage ($60), their expert teachers give us the tools (and the confidence) to put away our copy of What to Expect and put our learning into practice.
Now if we could just figure out how to get our partner on the same page, wed be set!

Parents of premature babies face unique and difficult challenges as they raise their little ones. Karen Perl, a Montreal mother of twins born 15 weeks early, knows how stressful the whole experience can be.
So she and two of her friends, both nurses, created La Creme de La Prem, a group offering support and services to families with premature babies.
The organization is holding CPR and baby massage classes, as well as monthly lectures by specialists such as an occupational therapist and a board-certified lactation consultant.
The group is planning to hold regular support groups where parents can discuss any and all issues related to raising premature babies. The classes are held at a private home in D.D.O.

The teacher was so knowledgeable and made us feel so welcome, like no question would go unanswered. I would recommend this class to all of my pregnant friends and family!
