Rita, the owner met us at the apartment in the morning and arranged to look after our luggage until the apartment was ready as we had arrived early morning due to the Ryan air flights! This was great as it meant we were able to go off and explore the area, coming back at 2pm to meet her again to get into the apartment. It was spotlessly clean! It was as described, not luxurious but with everything needed for a self catering stay. There was a main bedroom with a double bed and a separate put up single bed if required. The kitchen/diner had a double bed settee which folded out for use. We had gone there with our teenage son so it was good he had a separate room to sleep in. There was all equipment needed to make full dinners as well as snacks etc and Rita had made us a lovely cake for our arrival which was great. We even used the washing machine whilst we were there which there was powder for. She had even supplied tea and fresh coffee so we were able to make lovely fresh coffee with the stove top percolator.The leaning tower could be seen from the kitchen window as was actually about half a kilometer walk from the apartment, and the Piazza de miracoli was near the top of the town so it was about a km walk to the river and the main shopping areas but there are buses that run nearby and a local train station which has services to Lucca and to the Centrale station which take about 4 minutes. Its about 25 minutes on the train to visit Lucca which is a lovely walled town for a day trip, or about an hour from the main Pisa (Centrale) station to Firenze (Florence) which is of course very much worth a visit!So we found the apartment to be very well situated in Pisa for exploring that city and Pisa to be well situated in the region for visiting the other places of interest in Tuscany. We were only there for 5 days in total but managed to see a lot using both buses and trains - a car is certainly not needed.Rita makes sure there are maps, timetable etc in the apartment and you have her number should you need to get in contact. She arranged to meet us to handover the keys and because she had the time available even gave us a lift to the airport which was most unexpected but very welcome ( we were going to use the bus or train both of which go to the airport but even a cab direct to the apartment from the airport which we got on the first morning only cost less than 10 euros which shows how close it is).In summary we found Pisa and Tuscany a lovely place to visit, we found the Italians to be very friendly and especially Rita who does her best to make your visit a comfortable one and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.[aspetti positivi] A couple of by the ways.The area around the apartment isnt particularly attractive, some graffitti etc but that seems to be a feature of a lot of places these days and we certainly never felt unsafe all the time we were there. The different Italian police forces certainly believe in a uniformed presence which seems to have the disired effect of keeping the peace!On the first day using the shower the anti slip mat actually seemed to block the drain and we ended up flooding the shower room, but once we left that out of the cubicle it didnt happen again and the shower was a good one.The weather when we were there was just right , around 20 degrees and sunny, which seemed ideal to us especially when looking around the many sights. As it can get a lot hotter in that region I am glad we didnt go any later on in the season as we would have wanted a pool and more room to relax in at the apartment- but for a short stay it was ideal and there is air conditioning if required although we didnt need it.It is worth finding the local train station (San Rossore) , as the supermarket there called PAM was much better and bigger then the LIDL's that we found first, and it is just at the end of the platform of the station.The TV is in the bedroom and would have been better situated in the kitchen /diner as that is where the sofa is but then it only had local TV so no sky or english channels to watch which would have been good just to catch up with the news etc but we didnt miss much!We found that not all the electric sockets worked in the apartment and only a couple of them accepted our plug convertors (and were actually working) so we managed to get by but it was a bit awkward!These are really only observations to assist you and shouldnt be seen as negatives as stated we had a great time and found the apartment to do 'what it said on the tin!'Enjoy and say Ciao to Rita from us!Justin, Dorothy and Cam!Nome: Myriel Nazionalità: Germany Rilasciato il: 07/04/2010 21.10.46 Periodo: marzo 2010 Tipo di Viaggiatore: Famiglia con Bambini * Struttura [8/10] * Personale [8/10] * Pulizia [8/10] * Comfort [8/10] * Posizione [6/10] * Qualità/Prezzo [6/10] * Val. We were delighted that we were able to occupy the apartment a few hours sooner than expected, with a welcoming home made cake as a lovely surprise. There is a bus stop close by, though we hadn't realised that until near the end of our stay.We loved finding out about all the other things that Pisa has to offer apart from the famous Leaning Tower. [aspetti positivi] The apartment is ideally located for visiting the Tower and surroundings. For ourselves, we would prefer to be in the heart of the town as we enjoy exploring. Media: [10/10] [aspetti positivi] Owners were quick to respond to all questions prior to booking. Rita met us at the apartment as our taxi pulled up, she explained everything to us. Very thoughtful, she had provided supplies of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, water and made us a lovely cake, so we didn't need to shop immediately. (there is a very large supermarket 10 mins walking distance) .The location is very quiet, in a friendy neighborhood and you can walk to the tower in less than 10 minutes, we visited Lucca, the train goes from the small station at san rossore 10 min walk, (you can also get on here and then change at pisa central for trains to other areas e.g. florence) the trains are very cheap.The apartment was perfect for us, bedroom is spacious, plenty of wardrobes, the kitchen has plenty of crockery and cutlery etc, and a full cooker if you want to eat in. The kitchen was simple, well equipped and easy to use - we had a couple of great evening meals "a casa" to remember. Supermarket not far away. Our kids were able to play outside the apartment window safely. After a day in Pisa, we visited Lucca and a day in Florence - easy to get to by train. The owners, Rita and Guiseppe were warm and helpful. Die Wohnung war in den kalten und nassen Tagen angenehm warm. Íbamos mi mujer, mi hija y yo. Lo pasamos muy bien. El trato fue excelente. Tuvimos la mala suerte de no poder conocer a la señora Rita personalmente, porque se encontraba de viaje, pero nos atendió telefónicamente, y nos mandó a María, una amiga suya que nos atendió muy bien. El apartamento está muy bien situado, y tiene todos los servicios, es limpio y está bien distribuido.
