I am a DIRECTOR/ACTOR/TEACHER based in New York City. I strive to create theatre that makes people evaluate the human condition, whether it would be social, cultural, or personal. Theatre that maximizes the imaginative possibilities of an empty space, creates opportunity for transformation, and compels live participation .
I grew up in the small south Louisiana town of Abbeville. When I was 16 I was introduced to theatre and my life changed instantly. At age 17 I left to attend Northwestern State University and peruse a degree in Theatre. While at NSU, I was immersed into a world of education and the arts that lifted me to a higher level. When I decided to major in theatre, I had no idea what I was going to find, what path I was going to take, or where I would end up. What I found was an amazing community that multiplies wherever I go.
For the past few years I have been directing and teaching theatre in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as well as building a photography business (www.kylelemaire.com). I have recently moved to NYC to begin my MFA at the New School for Drama. Without the constant collaborators in my life, I would have never ended up where I am now, a director, teacher and photographer.
