With mere pitiable words , letters , strange symbols combined to make sounds , express objects appearances , experiences , sometimes you can describe a feeling. Anger : a burning sensation in your core where you cling to a perceived injustice. Excitement : that rush of adrenaline and an uncontrollable smile just before embarking on some strange adventure. But love seems to lie in another dimension , somewhere beyond the organized arrangement of letters and sounds. (scroll down)Can you sing love? With 88 notes and the endless possibilities for juxtaposition , amalgamation , and relationship among them , the division , those moments of silence with your soul hanging on the precipice of a melody's closure , sometimes in the midst you can convey a mood. Sadness : the ebb and flow of a minor scale , the coming and going of a rubato beat , notes in conflict creating in their wake the melodic dissonance of a lonely harmony. But love seems to lie in another dimension , somewhere beyond the spaces in the bent frequencies of vibration.Can you draw love? With thousands of colors and so many mediums , some talent and a little skill , you can paint a beautiful sunset , draw a portrait , or etch out an abstract with a piece of charcoal. You might even depict an emotion : fear , like the painting by Munch that I've always revered. But love , real love , seems to lie in another dimension , somewhere beyond the spectrum of reflected light. And we could spend a lifetime trying to frame that picture just right.

A singer, composer, producer, and artist of genuine authenticity, Kristen Leigh's music represents an eclectic and original mix of styles, encompassing nearly every genre with a subtle twang, raw emotion, and an alternative edge. Influenced primarily by traditional folk music and artists like Patty Griffin, Leonard Cohen, Tori Amos, Bob Dylan, Joni MItchell, Neil Young, and Fiona Apple, the self-taught North Carolina native has independently recorded, produced, and released five full-length albums, three of which are currently available. A multi-instrumentalist, Kristen not only does all her own mixing and production, but also plays most of the tracks on her albums, which have been recorded on a non-existent budget in bedrooms, basements, warehouses, and spare rooms all over the country utilizing one microphone and the very best in makeshift bricolage and DIY technology. Performing for over ten years at live music venues, local bars, coffee houses, restaurants, musical theatres, street fairs, and festivals all over North and South Carolina as well as New York and California, Leigh has a well-developed ability to carve out her own niche and win the heart of virtually any audience. The passion and emotion she pours into each performance is assuaged by a disarming, down-to-earth, and often witty stage presence that offers a refreshing contrast to today's performance-driven pop entertainment. Kristen provides support to students who are interested in exploring alternative ways of knowing and communicating knowledge through artistic expression, as well as opportunities for all to participate in prayer and Divine presence through creative exploration.

It is very ecclectic, as I tend to pull from the spectrum of all that I have loved musically in my songwriting. When asked recently about what genre this project would fall under, my response was something like the following: "well, this album has some upbeat songs, some folky songs, some sad songs, a lullaby, some really intense songs, and some that are really rather snarky...it has piano, guitar, violins and cellos, banjo, trumpet, accordion, flute, glockenspiel, the ocean, harmonica, crickets, a crowd of people clapping their hands and singing lalalas, and opens with a medieval harpsichord and the epic reading of a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote.
