Guru Mahima
Hymns in praise of Guru
The water of the Gurus feet has the power to dry up the mire of ones sins, to ignite the light knowledge, and to take one smoothly across the ocean of the worldly existence.
The above verse magnifies the greatness of Gurus feet. An immense confidence is required to spell such a verse.
The act of the magician keeps us wondering about the trick he has done to perform something that is not believable. Same way the act of Sathguru cannot be believed until experienced by oneself. Its truly enchanting to be under the shade of Sathgurus grace.
An apt incidence to explain the above verse is that of Sri Mudhaliandaan –the disciple of Swami Ramanujar. Once Swami Ramanujar, Sri Mudhaliandaan along with other disciples was going through a village. Swami Ramanujar was determined to show the path of liberation to everyone. But the people in that village were not ready to accept Swami Ramanujar and they ignored his presence.
Seeing this condition Swami Ramanujar ordered Sri Mudhaliandaan to sit on the bank of the pond with his feet submerged in the water of the pond.
Hearing this instruction of Swami Ramanujar, his disciples started wondering what their Guru was really upto. However Sri Mudhaliandaan was not willing to derive any meaning out it and simply acted as per his Gurus instructions. This is one of the signs of a Sathsishyaa, to follow the Gurus instructions entirely without any reservations.
The villagers used the ponds water for domestic use like drinking, cooking etc. The villagers used to wonder what the person was doing submerging his legs in the pond. The day passed by.
The next day all villagers came to seek blessings of Swami Ramanujar and were so keen to listen to his teachings. The situation indeed took a dramatic change as if the whole village was painted with a magical brush. This was a result of Sri Mudhaliandaan feet which passed the radiation of Swami Ramanujars grace to the ponds water. The holy water was consumed by the villagers that brought a sea change in their mindset.
Truly the water of the Gurus feet has the power to dry up the mire of ones sins, to ignite the light knowledge, and to take one smoothly across the ocean of the worldly existence.
Here the holy water had erased the villagers ignorance and lighted the lamp of awareness to surrender to a Sathguru thus they were able to enjoy the real meaning of life and rise above the material world.
Thirikoolur Pennpillai carries on her saga of illustrating the devotion and love of great devotees for Bagwaan. The next example she quotes is again from Srimad Ramayana. She says Avaan Daivam endreno Mandodari polle (Did I say that He (Shri Ram) is the Supreme Bagwaan as Mandodari said)
Lots of fortitude is required to openly declare someone as the Supreme Lord. Mandodari had done such a brave act. Mandodari was the favourite wife of Ravana. In spite of the undesirable behavior of Ravana she was devoted to him and always used to advice him to follow a virtuous life. This is how a wife should be. Being frustrated by the husbands behavior a wife should not abandon him but always make an effort to bring him on right track.
Mandodari was so devoted to her husband that for a momentary instant Sri Hanuman had mistaken her as Sita Mata. When Ravan had abducted Sita and brought her to Lanka, Mandodari modestly explained Ravana that he was doing a great mistake. Lord Rama is not an ordinary person. He is none other than the almighty. She also pleaded Ravana to return Sita Mata to Lord Rama else, he will be destroyed. She also suggested him to ask for forgiveness and the ocean of mercy, Lord Rama would pardon him.
This is the beauty of Mandodari even being a wife to a demon like Ravana she could recognize Shir Rama as the Supreme almighty and enumerate His powers. However Ravana didnt listen to her and waged a war against Lord Rama. Ultimately Ravana was killed by Rama in a fierce battle. Mandodari was mourning on the dead body of Ravana and was repeatedly saying that she had warned Ravana that Lord Rama was none other than Supreme one Himself.
The devotion of Mandodari is really unparalleled, even while mourning the death of her husband she didnt forget Lord Rama.
Quoting this incidence Thirikoolur Pennpillai made her point that she had never declared Lord Vaithamanidhi Perumal of Thirikoolur as the Supreme almighty so she doesnt have a right to stay back in Thirikoolur. Seeing such devotion of Thirikoolur Pennpillai, Swami Ramanujar was enthralled and he could do nothing but keep on pouring grace on her.

Short stories to regain grace
Radhekrishna,
Pranams to Guruji and Guruji Amma. Gurus grace is so easily available that often we try to take everything for granted. Gurujis Satsang has installed a fearless approach to face almost anything in life.
This is a small incidence in my life which proved once again that Sathgurus grace has power to vanish any problem. I got married about 10 months ago. All kind of fear and surrounded my mind prior to marriage. It was going to be new environment, new people, new lifestyle etc. In these entire situation how I was going to adjust myself was always an uncertainty. Even though such shaky thoughts were going on one part of mind, the other part was very stable that let any situation come Sathguru is always with me and would guide me.
The days following my marriage were very challenging, meeting new relatives, helping in the household activities, behaving responsibly etc. In each and every situation it was Gurus grace which guided me successfully. I would really feel fearless and could sense the sanctity of Guruji in each odd situation. Gurujis Sathsang was an asset which was very supportive in giving confidence and faith whenever I felt left out and lonely. I am very thankful to Guruji who has given confidence to face all hurdles and come out of it in a smooth way.
I would always be grateful to Guruji and Guruji Amma
