Early Childhood Initiative

Our Vision of the FutureThe support of our entire community helps families enrich the lives of young children. If we are concerned about the future of our community, we need to make long-term investments in our youngest community members by nurturing them right from the beginning. Our investments pay off in lower crime rates, less need for public assistance, better public schools, and better lives for families. The Fertile-Beltrami Early Childhood Initiative (ECI) is a coalition of people committed to enriching the lives of children from birth to age five in our community. Our ECI coalition is one of 86 such community groups in Minnesota, all coming together to assess needs and gaps, create a vision of a bright future for every child and then develop an action plan to achieve that vision. The Northwest Minnesota Foundation, with help from the McKnight Foundation, has granted resources for the work.

Minnesota Parents Know is a resource filled with convenient and trusted child development, health, and parenting information. The site has been developed for parents and provides up-to-date research based information on children from birth to grade 12, strategies to support children's learning, newsletters, expert tips, an interactive early childhood and child care search, connections to Minnesota services and resources, video clips, a parent Web literacy tutorial and a customized search function of high quality, non-commercial child development and health websitesLINK HERE

Are you interested in obtaining some practical, no-nonsense parenting tools and techniques to help you with your parenting journey? Early Childhood Family Education

The primary purpose of ECFE is to strengthen our most valuable resource-the family. Parents have a great influence on their children as the first and most significant teachers in their lives. Because the role of parenting is so important, this program is designed to include children with their parents where they will reassure parenting skills, encourage children in caring ways and will bring parents and children together for a variety of shared experiences.LINK HERE
