Klub Jabuka

Located on the square in the old village centre, "Jabuka" offers a variety of culture and entertainment events, such as concerts, exhibitions, promotional happenings, theaterical performances etc.With the best coffee in town, excellent wine and local delicacies (from Pelješac), visitors can also find Internet access, as well as help with finding accomodation.~ since 1845The history of "Jabuka" (eng. "apple") can be traced back to the mid-19th century, when with the economic growth and good marine traffic development Trpanj became a very frequently visited place, so there was a sudden need for taverns and bars.[according to F.Glavina, "Trpanj, past, present, monuments", 1989]In 1845, in the premises of today's "Jabuka", a man named Petar Peric opened a tavern which was also his barber shop, so we take that as the birth-year of the oldest club in Trpanj. In 1922 another man, Jero Ferri-Certic, extended and rearranged the premises to open (at the time) a very modern cafe named "Central" (in Trpanj also known as the "Caffeteria"), which was working continuously until the late 1980's.It is also interesting to mention that the presence of women was unacceptable up until the late 1960's (don't worry ladies, that's certainly not the case today). Men would usually play cards and tobacco was available for sale.After 13 years of pause, the "Jabuka" club opened in 2002, bringing back the spirit of the old times, with good music and pleasant company.

Trpanj, Pelješac

"... You can't be hurt by mean people. Hear! The sea and sky tell the same story. The paradise must be somewhere near Neretva flows and says don't worry."This poem was written in August 1928. by the Czech poet Jiri Mahen. He was leaving Trpanj, and touched with its beauty he wrote this poem on the wall of a beach hut. All we can say is he would probably be inspired same way if he could come to Trpanj today. ~ TrpanjTrpanj is a sea resort situated on the Northwest side of the Pelješac peninsula, in the county of Dubrovnik, Croatia. Once an important harbor of Pelješac, Trpanj developed near a settlement of the Roman villae rusticae (there are still fragments of mosaics and walls on the old graveyard). The ruins of a mediaeval fortress rise on the hill above the port.The church of Our Lady of Carmen (with a Renaissance main altar with the coat of arms of the Gundulic family) is located in the center of the town. The new parish church was built in the Neo-Romanesque style; a 16th century ornated stone window of an older church has been preserved. A small chapel (an inscription from the 1695) with a wooden Baroque-style altar is located on the edge of the village.For those who like to explore the history and absorb the atmosphere of a place that lives around the physical remains of its past, Trpanj offers numerous monuments of both historical and aesthetic qualities.Beautiful beaches surrounded by pine groves, numerous coves with lavish Mediterranean vegetation and fresh water springs are distinctive features of the Trpanj area.There are many beaches in Trpanj as well as around it. They vary in size and composition - some are sandy, some are stony, some covered with gravel, and some cemented (flat) and all of them are regularly maintained. The nearby pine forests give that special Mediterranean aroma to the sea-scented air and also offer a shade for people with sensitive skin.
