A Little Bit About
the Photographer
I grew up in a little rural Alaskan town called Unalakleet. Population: 750 people. I am Inupiaq Eskimo and my Eskimo name is Kasannaaluk.I grew up living a hybrid subsistence lifestyle--my dad taught me how to hunt and fish and my mom taught me how to gather berries and other vegetation. I am 21 and just graduated with a Bachelors degree in Community Development from Portland State University.
I've been both behind and in front of the camera, loving taking pictures since I was a small girl and trying out modeling this past year. I didn't realize I had a "thing" for photography until I was in college when I began getting compliments on the photos I took with a small point and shoot camera. So, this year, I upgraded to a simple DSLR, a Nikon D5000.
