Kindred Spirit Farm
Leicesters are the foundation of many other longwool breeds as well as many of today’s modern breeds of sheep. They also have historical significance as both George Washington and Thomas Jefferson had Leicesters in their flock. Leicester Longwools became extinct in the United States in the 1930’s and Colonial Williamsburg reintroduced them to the U.S. in 1990. We are building our flock with sheep from Colonial Williamsburg, Hopping Acres Farm, and Old Gjerpen Farm.
Their status recently reverted back to “critical” by the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy.
