Newport Beach Kayaking's parent company, Cocoa Beach Kayaking, has been conducting highly educational and entertaining guided kayak nature tours in the Thousand Islands area of Cocoa Beach, Florida since 1998.
We are bringing our wildlife expertise to the Newport Beach area, operating tours in the Back Bay Nature Preserve leaving from the Newport Aquatic Center (NAC) in Newport beach, California beginning in October, 2009. The NAC offers an exceptionally safe and easy launch site at the Back Bay and Newport Harbor.
You won't want to miss this unique, all inclusive tour!
NEWPORT BEACH KAYAKING:
Where Mother Nature and YOU Become One.
The Newport Beach's Back Bay is home to thousands of migratory birds that come from all over the world to rest and raise their families....kind of like us!
Enjoy a relaxing, fun, educational kayaking experience in one of the most extraordinary habitats in the world for birds, and find
out all you ever wanted to know about dolphins but didn't know who to ask. Did you know that Mexico is home to the Antillean
manatee? As a manatee behavioral specialist I'm excited to share my knowledge about these incredible creatures with you on
our tour.
Please join us at The Newport Aquatic Center (NAC) which offers safe, easy access into the Back Bay Nature Preserve and Newport Harbor.
We look forward to seeing you and your family soon!

Hello!
My name is Kathleen Bennett.
Having run Cocoa Beach Kayaking in Cocoa Beach Florida for the past 11 years, I am honored to have been asked to bring my expertise to the Newport Beach area! I’ve always believed learning should be fun! I enjoy sharing my knowledge with the same excitement and enthusiasm I felt as I was learning it….entertaining, never stuffy or pretentious.
I was schooled for 8 years under the mentorship of Dr. Gregory Bossart, head of Marine Mammal Research and Conservation at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution in Ft. Pierce, Florida. For four years I was his research assistant on the Indian River Lagoon Dolphin Health and Research Assessment (HERA) government-sponsored research project.
I am also a lecturer…. I lecture on marine mammals, specifically manatees and dolphins. I discuss their unique make up and behavior while raising awareness of the devastating effects of pollution on these incredible creatures.
I am an author…
I have authored a couple of children’s books which educate on manatees. “Margarette the Manatee Finds Pollution” has been sold worldwide and I’ve been blessed to go around to several schools across the state of Florida reading my book to the children and teaching them the importance of keeping our environment clean.
I hope you will come and join me as we enjoy a relaxing, fun, educational kayaking experience you won’t find anywhere else. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Kathleen

THESE ARE SUGGESTIONS ONLY AND DO NOT CONSTITUTE A RESERVATION. YOU MUST CALL OR EMAIL US TO MAKE A RESERVATION!
**We will also need you there 15 minutes prior to your tour time because you need to fill out a waiver; that way you'll be ready for paddle instructions and launching right on time.
WHAT TO BRING AND WHAT TO WEAR:
CHECK THE WEATHER AND DRESS ACCORDINGLY...I suggest layering. Start in a bathing suit and layer up. That way if you want to be comfortable, or get some sun, you can get right down to your bathing suit. But PLEASE be sure to have a T-shirt or some kind of cover up as an extra form of sun block (we suggest no tops with spaghetti straps) .
WE DO PROVIDE 50 SPF SUN BLOCK...However, I suggest putting some on first, before you come to meet us, as extra protection.
IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN HATS, WEAR THEM...If not, we have ball caps, visors, or big straw hats
WE ALSO PROVIDE BOTTLED WATER...If you would like anything over and above a bottle of water, there is room for you to bring a cooler! (Nothing on wheels)
DEFINITELY BRING YOUR CAMERAS!...I encourage you to bring your digital, film or video camera with zoom lenses to record the adventure...they will be safe and dry, and you won't want to miss the opportunity to take home memories.
MOST IMPORTANTLY!!!!...Eat first AND pack a light snack for the tour. Being on the water tends to get people munchy, that way you're covered!
Please pack for your comfort. It's always best to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
