Paris Workshop and Art Tour
Port Douglas & Cape York, TNQ
Day 1 - Port Douglas
Meet and Greet at Australian and Oceanic Art Gallery, Port Douglas for a welcome lunch and introduction to the tour make your theme selection, materials, paints canvas’s etc. An Included lunch with a selection of fine wines and local produce. After lunch an Art Talk encompassing the history and interpretation of Indigenous Australian Art. Free afternoon and evening to explore Port Douglas with its lovely village atmosphere.
Day 2 - Cape Tribulation, Cooktown
Scenic drive through the Daintree, Cape Tribulation, Bloomfield Ntional Park, which includes photographic sessions with poloroid camera supplied for painting reference . Arrive at accommodation for lunch. Afternoon workshop with artist. Dinner included at accommodation.
Day 3 - Cooktown - Laura Caves
Early departure for Laura which is 130 kilometres west of our accommodation,and is rich in Aboriginal culture. Visit the Quinken Regional Cultural Centre and take a guided tour of the rock art galleries. It is understood that Aboriginal people have been living here for the past 40,000 years making them the oldest living culture. Enjoy the spectacular Rock Caves and the scenery. Lunch included during the tour. Afternoon painting session back at the Lodge.
Day 4 - Palmer River
Depart accommodation for Palmer River on inland road. Palmer River is the site of one of Australia’s major gold rush locations. The Palmer River and Maytown once one of the biggest gold areas are now deserted and the last mine ceased operation in 1976. Stop for morning tea with painting session on river bank including lunch. Depart for Port Douglas. Transport back to accommodation.
Day 5 - Oak Beach
Depart Port Douglas to Oak Beach for a painting workshop at a private house
morning tea and lunch provided. Use of house facilities includes, kitchen, pool
and amenities. On site painting at magnificent Oak Beach, seascapes, bush, or
rock scapes. If circumstances allow sundowners at Thala Beach Bar on the way back to the accommodation.
Day 6 - Port Douglas
Meet for morning tea at the Gallery, set up easels on the verandah and finish
paintings. Display paintings and have a group discussion. Take photographs
of art work for gift “Cool Art Bag” includes complmentary bottle of wine. Light lunch
Dinner at Sassi’s with presentation of Cool Art Bags at Sassi’s.
Day 7 - Port Douglas
Free range of activities available including:
* Reef Trip
* Golf Day
* Spa and shopping
* Do nothing, lay around the pool
* Trip to the tablelands
* Mossman Gorge
During your stay you may paint as much or as little as you like, there other other ac tivities
at painting sites, including beach and rainforest walks, pool facilities, general relaxation
e.g. reading (art books supplied). Non painitng partners are welcome as there is always many activities and activities at all sites.
