Fashion Illustration, Draping, Computer Aided Design, and Portfolio development are a few of the topics to be covered in the five day intensive. Life skills such as yoga, sustainability, empowerment, focus, and goal setting will be woven throughout the five days. The week will culminate with a fashion show produced by the designers. They will model an outfit refashioned from a vintage garment they’ll shop for. Each will have hair and make-up done professionally as part of the production. The participants will receive a bevy of supplies to include a sewing kit with shears, a professional Portfolio, photos of their camp work, sketch pad & graphite pencils, to list a few.

FASHION BOOT CAMP 2012
After the raging success of the previous year's Fashion Boot Camps, Karen Best is ready to plunge in head first on this year's creative process for FBC 2012. This year there will be new challenges and new techniques that every designer should have in their bag of tricks! Being green is an even bigger focus this year with every possible consideration being taken.
Again Fashion Boot Camp is a series of Project Runway like clinics to prepare aspiring designers for college and their career. The camp is intended for rising high school/college students and career minded individuals who want to enter the fashion industry.
Fashion Illustration, Basic sewing skills, Computer Aided Design, and Portfolio development are a few of the topics to be covered in the five day intensive. Local experts from the apparel industry will assist in conducting the camp. Life skills such as yoga, sustainability, and goal setting will be woven throughout the five days.
The week will culminate with a fashion show produced by the designers. They will model an outfit refashioned from a vintage garment theyll shop for. Each will have their hair and make-up done professionally as part of the production.
The participants will receive a bevy of supplies to include a tote, water bottle, sewing kit with shears, professional portfolio, photos of your camp work, sketch pad & pencils, among other things.
Fashion Boot Camp will take place from 10am-5pm Monday through Friday. The Fashion Show/Reception will be 5pm till 6pm on Friday of the session. The designers will be able to invite their families and friends to attend.

Karen Best, Chief Rainbow & Unicorn Wrangler, has a Bachelors Degree in Apparel and Textile Design with a focus on CAD and minor in Art. She has owned and operated Matrix Computer Concepts, Inc for 14 years providing web design, hosting, and Internet Solutions for her clients. She is the founder of a Healing Arts program formerly known as the Hat Attack, a custom designed program that uses the power of dress to create a healing space for cancer patients. Ms. Best has left a legacy of creative endeavors in her path: Greensboro Summer Solstice, Goddess Market®, Hat Attack & Fashion Boot Camp®. Following suit, these dress up events use the power of clothing/ costumes/ apparel, to instill a state of well being. Karen is an author with 2 books out soon, Hat Magic and Admission both about her work in healing arts programming while using apparel design.
