Biography
Katie lives with her husband and two children in Stock, Essex.
She grew up in the West Country around Bristol and from the age of six was involved in amateur dramatics inspired by her mother Sandy Taylor who is a writer.
Katie attended stage school in London at the age of 16 and spent her early career touring with West End shows, mainly in musical theatre.
Music has always played a large part in her life. Katie learned to play the piano by ear as a child and started writing whilst in her teens and revisited
song-writing with a passion in the last few years after having children.
Supported by friends and family, Katie decided to put a collection of her songs together to create her first album called Beach Huts & Orange Peel.
The title of the album is a sentimental story about
her mother.
Katie's Mum was brought up in Hove near Brighton with very modest means. As children, Katie's
mother and her siblings would spend many happy times on the beach and remembers watching people in their colourful beach huts and the smell of
oranges, which at the time were only accessible to wealthy people and a life that was out of her reach.
Katie feels that at age of 37 she now has so much
to give in terms of her life experiences and that it is certainly not too late in life to start her true musical career as women at this point in life have a lot to offer and a story to tell. Her lyrics and songs draw on this knowledge and reflect her experiences in life and love.
