La Fenice is dedicated to the revival of Commedia dell'Arte on American stages. Our performances are original, irreverent, and mirthful. We double-dog-dare you to join us.

You may have noticed that we look a little familiar. Once upon a time we graced Austin's stages as the Austin Commedia Society. Since we went on hiatus in 2002, our Company Members have explored all sorts of other creative avenues, but Commedia is like a pizza pie – you can't help but come back for seconds. With an expanded game plan for fulfilling our mission, we're excited to bring the hibernating art form of Commedia dell'Arte back to the Austin artistic scene.
Introductions
Meet the company
All of our members have ages of performance and fanciful training under their belts, but find it all pretty useless without a sense of humor and a willingness to mount the stage with abandon. We include actors, dancers, stand up comics, and musicians.
Interested in becoming assimilated? We're always looking for new kids to add to the playground, assuming they play nice with others (no biters). Limited internship opportunities are available, and college credit can be arranged with various institutions.

Below you will find our original scenarios and academic works, free for use with appropriate credit.

SAT (Scuola Addestramento Teatrale) has created an international repository of Commedia dell'Arte academic works and performance video. Their goal is to persuade UNESCO (United Nations) to include Commedia dell'Arte on their list of World Cultural Heritages.
La Fenice is thrilled to contribute to this process - to see the fruits of this international effort, visit the SAT page.

Interested in playing with us? There is always a place for new performers, artists and photographers with a collaborative spirit at our table.
Our core company members are also available for workshops on mask work and mask making and Commedia dell'Arte.
Got a party? Our trunk shows go everywhere, and we've performed on even the most rudamentary of stages. We've also done a number of private functions requiring physical performers, including Tableaux Vivant and replicating the Blue Man Group in some guy's living room. Looking for something more athletic? Let us know - we know all kinds of ridiculously talented circus people, and we'd be happy to make introdroductions.
