About
Kirsten Shoup has always loved the arts. While at St. Charles North High School she was involved in Art Club, Photo Club, and NAHS, as well as the Marching Band. She took almost every art class offered by the department; Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Photo, Commercial Art, and Advanced Placement Studio Art. She enjoyed her time with Mrs. Creasor, Ms. Goll, Mrs. Foecking, Ms. LaBotz, and Ms. Foy so much that she decided to major in Art Education at North Central College. Instead, she graduated in June 2010 with a Studio Art major and an Art History minor. While attending NCC in Naperville, Kirsten was the Co-President of the schools art club, Impressions from her sophomore to senior year and helped organize the first Student Art sale, known as START. She also worked as the assistant to the Chair of the Art Department, Barry Skurkis, for several years, learning about the many different aspects of running an art department. She is also an assistant photographer for several photography companies, including KRPhotogs and Envisage Studios. She has also worked as a freelance photographer, taking headshots for local actors and actresses, as well as various theater productions at NCC. Two of her photographs were also published in NCCs Chronicle newspaper in 2010. Kirsten enjoys painting, drawing, and photography, and draws her inspiration from art history, theory and critique. She plans to continue her artistic studies through an overseas masters program, in hopes of opening her own international art school, gallery, and studio some day.
