Where did these guys come from?...”If Swinghouse was a country, Louis Armstrong would be Mayor, Louis Prima would be the President and Count Basie most certainly would be King. That’s Swinghouse. Great vocals, blazing horns and a fabulous rhythm section. The music from this 6 piece ensemble combines the drive of jump blues n’ swing of the '40s and 50’s, with the hot soloing of jazz, from that special time before strict boundaries were drawn between jazz, blues and r&b.Playing a varied repertoire of both originals and standards that includes fun, sexy and provocative lyrics, torchy ballads, lindy tempos, foxtrots, medium swings and even a raucous rumba or two. The music joyfully transports you back to era of zoot suits, swinging blues clubs, jive cats and sexy pin-ups.Swinghouse led by vocalist and band leader Karen Neumann (USA) is one Europe's fastest growing Swingbands. Since its formation in 2007 they have appeared at major festivals and clubs: The Delft Jazz Festival, Boogie & Blues Night, Blues Route Middelburg, Zaandam Jazz Festival, Zoetermeer Jazz Festival, Meer Jazz Hoofdorp, Jazz en Blues Ronde Steenwijk, the De Otter, Meer jazz Hoofddorp, Café Baarends, Bluescafe Appeldoorn, De Gouveneur, De Nieuwe Doelen, Sgt. Pepper's, In den Boekenkast, Café Ruimzicht, Wonders, Café te Beesde and for Jive 55. Their music has been featured on the radio stations such Blue Ears, Blue Haarlem, Dutch Coast Radio and “Fascinating Jazz” by Gerhard ten Hoopen where they were hailed as a ‘band to watch”. Their first full length cd entitled "Swinghouse" will be available in September 2009 and in January 2010 will be touring as part of the Boogie & Blues Night National Theatre tour line-up.MUSIC
