"A chilly rain splattered against the windowpanes of the little dormitory room on Professional Hall, the dormitory floor where most of the seniors lived. Saturday meant no classes, and the dreary weather that hung over Farmville was a perfect excuse for the four friends to tuck themselves away in that cozy spot and talk for hours... It was that afternoon that Kappa Delta was born."-Ordinary Miracles:100 Years of Kappa Delta Sorority

May We, Sisters in Kappa Delta, strive each day to seek more earnestly the honorable and beautiful things. May We each day through love of those within our circle, Learn to know and understand better those without our circle. May the diamond shield that guards our love find us each day Truer, Wiser, More Faithful, More Loving, and More Noble. -Kappa Delta Creed
My favorite thing about Kappa Delta is being with my sisters. I will never forget our late night food runs, our YouTube video sessions, and the way we can make each other laugh until we cry. Kappa Delta has helped me to find my best friends.- Sister Mary Tackett
Kappa Delta is a home away from home to each sister in our chapter, where you'll find laughter, smiles, a shoulder to lean on, and, most importantly, your best friends. From the moment our newest sisters run home on Bid Day, they are welcomed with just that: warm smiles, hugs, and lots of laughter and fun.
There will always be that KD Lady that you admire, a sister who gives you advice, and the sister who stopped by your dorm freshman year to introduce you to all of her friends. Kappa Delta means having a special bond...even with women you've never met! But when you do meet a KD, she greets you with an understanding that others don't share. Kappa Delta means having sisters close by for a lifetime...just like a real family!
Kappa Delta is being confident in yourself and trusting in your sisters. It means being there for each sister and knowing that each sister will be there for you. We believe in ourselves, and we believe in Kappa Delta.

Our dream is to give the world Confidence.
Being involved on campus is very important to every Omicron KD. Each member is involved in at least one activitiy outside of Kappa Delta, and many of our women hold leadership positions around campus. We're so grateful for all of the opportunities provided to us by Illinois Wesleyan, and we feel the best way to show our thanks is by giving back through involvement on campus!
Kappa Deltas have proudly held the title of Homecoming Queen for 2 out of the past 4 years, and have had women on the court each year! We love participating in Greek Week activities with our fellow greeks, and are proud of our awards each year, such as our second year running as the Philanthropy and Community Service award winners. KD is also home to 2 out of the last 3 Sorority New Members of the Year, and this year we won the inaugural Golden Apple Award for having the most outstanding new member class! From the Cheerleading Squad to The Wesleyana (our school yearbook!), you're sure to see a smiling KD almost everywhere you go!
Kay Dee Ladies definitely know how to have fun together, so we make sure to keep our social calendar full each semester! Whether it's celebrating a sister's Birthday, hosting a paintball exchange with an IWU fraternity, or attending one of our three dances each year, if KD's are together, we're definitely having a great time!
Our Fall semester is when we hold our Debut Dance, which is a chance for our newest members to pick a theme and surprise the rest of the chapter with their plans for an outstanding dance! We then get to recognize them while at the dance for being such amazing additions to our sisterhood! Each spring we hold our Crush Dance and our Senior Informal! Every Kappa Delta gets to bring her two crushes to the first dance of the semester, and our guests have just as much fun as we do! Senior Informal is a last hoorah for our graduating seniors where they plan a fun theme for the rest of the chapter! Recent themes have included $5 Prom, Dinosaur Stomp, and Top of the Playlist (where you dress up like the song on the top of your Itunes play list!)
In addition to our dances, we love to plan exchanges with fraternities from IWU and Illinois State throughout the school year. Some of our favorite exchanges include our annual Paintball Exchange, ice cream socials, and our yearly Halloween tradition of pumpkin carving with Sigma Pi!
While Kay Dees love to have fun, we know that academics are very important, too. With this in mind, we put a strong focus on academic achievement, which definitely pays off as can be seen by the fact that we consistantly have an average chapter gpa of around a 3.4! We believe that learning can be fun, too, and it's not uncommon to see our sisters forming study groups and tutoring one another when they need a little extra help. We also love to reward our members by giving out "Smart Cookies" every week to sisters who earn an A on a test or paper that week. Our Academic Excellence Chair holds study tables twice a week in our house and at the IWU library. Study tables give KDs a chance to get work done in a positive environment while also earning "KD Bucks." We end each semester with a scholarship banquet and auction, where sisters can spend their KD Bucks on gift cards to local restaurants or stores such as Victoria's Secret or Express!
Thinking about studying abroad? That's no problem if you're a KD! We have a number of sisters go abroad each semester (some even travel together)! Our members have traveled to everywhere from Rome, Paris, and Moscow to Ecuador, New Zealand, and Bangkok! And with so many KDs traveling, you see that no matter where you go, you always have a sister closeby!
Spending 4 months in Barcelona gave me the confidence to do anything. I feel like I can conquer the world. Sharing those 4 months with my sister Kelsie made the experiences even better!-Sister Hillary Anderson

The Kappa Delta New Member Program is an exciting time for every new member. The six week period, led by our Vice President Member Education and her SET (Sisterhood Enrichment Team) Leaders, gives new KDs the chance to learn all about our history and what it really means to be a Kay Dee Lady for life. New members have the chance to bond within their pledge class as well as with older members through fun events such as S'mores with the Sophomores. Every KD holds dear to her heart her New Member Retreat, which is usually held as a slumber party at an alumna's house. Sisters bond over movies and games and learn how to Make Great Things Happen through being a Kappa Delta!
Another exciting part of the new member period is receiving your Big sister, who helps you learn about yourself and Kappa Delta as you go through your college years.
Of course this all leads up to White Rose Celebration Week, which is filled with fun sisterhood activities and lots of presents for the new members, ending with the looked-forward to Initiation at the end of the week!
As Kappa Deltas, we believe the best way to bond with your sisters is through mutual trust and respect, and, therefore, we do not condone hazing of any kind. To read Kappa Delta's statement on hazing,
I joined Kappa Delta because I knew that this group of girls would take me for who I was. I knew that I did not have to pretend to be someone else to fit in. I felt comfortable the moment I walked into the house. My favorite part of KD is the life long friendships that I have made.-sister Kari Huddleston

Sisterhood is the essence of all the wisdom of the ages, distilled into a single word. You cannot see sisterhood, neither can you hear it nor taste it. But you can feel it a hundred times a day. It is a pat on the back, a smile of encouragement. It's someone to share with, to celebrate your achievements. Sisterhood is Kappa Delta.
