Watch the Time Out 4 billy PromoHERE!
Time Out 4 billy focuses on the lifestyle of the Rockabilly world that is still very much Alive and Rockin.
With a combination of studio and on-locations shoots, host Mr. Rite and special co-host Pin Up model of the week will escort you though the world of Rockabilly from old style straight razor barber shops, clothing and accessory stores, tattoo shops and LA hot spots in the Rockabilly scene.
Everything and anything related to Rockabilly will be showcased in the hour long show, including car clubs, body shops that cater to the Hot Rods of the billy culture and those that keep Rockabilly alive: promoters, bands, photographers, and DJs.
One of the major draws on Time Out 4 billy is the music: the bands that play the music and the venues/promoters that host them. Mr. Rite will explore the Rockabilly scene and how it's continued by those who love the style, music & way of life.
The Rockabilly scene in essence is like one big family, most of the individuals have lived this lifestyle for years, it is a way of life that they will hold for years beyond their youth.
Mr. Gabriel Rite
"I always felt like I was born in the wrong era."
Born in 1976 and raised in El Monte, CA, Mr. Gabriel Rite is the youngest of four children.
Although he is fairly new to the rockabilly scene, Mr. Rite has always felt at home in a Zoot suit. Growing up listening to his dads records and watching old black and white movies, he learned from a young age to appreciate the culture and all the encompassing aspects.
Mr. Rite is a fan of the old comic routines, such as Abbot & Costello, Charlie Chaplin, & the Marx Brothers, as well as the sarcasm from the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts. In his spare time, Mr. Rite enjoys singing, surfing, and dancing.
Always being inspired by music, Mr. Rite is known for quoting musical icons such as Frank Sinatra always saying "Its a beautiful thing," from his song I've Got The World On a String, and one of his favorite bands Royal Crown Revue: "I Live The Life I Love and I Love The Life I Live."
Time Out 4 billy started as an internet radio show, and is now making the exciting move to television. "Time Out 4 billy will allow me to bring the realization to others that the scene is still very much alive and a way of life!" says Mr. Rite
With his love for singing and true musicianship, Mr. Rite can sincerely appreciate the styles of rockabilly, swing, and doo-wop.
Cherryanna
Cherryanna was born & raised in Los Angeles and is the youngest of 5 children. Cherryanna has been around music since before she was born.
Her father was her first major influence. She can recallriding in the car as a little girl, listening to the traditional sounds of Spanish Rock n Roll such as Los Teen Tops & Los Rebeldes del Rock. She also grew up listening to American hits such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Carl Perkins & Elvis Presley.
At the age of 12, Cherryanna's sister introduced her to modern Rockabilly acts such as Kim Lenz & Pep Torres (who later performed at her QuinceaƱera). Having Dance experience, Cherryanna quickly began Strolling & Jiving on the dance floor.
In 2010, she received an Associates of Arts Degree in Chicano Studies. She is currently studying for her Bachelors of Arts in Mexican-American Studies & has plans to continue on to her Masters Degree.
Being a single mother of her 3 year old son, Cherryanna always states that she is the strongest lady she knows. . . "My experience & education has allowed me to work towards getting people to appreciate other ideas and step away from the familiar. Working on this show allows me to reach out to those that are unaware of the Rockabilly, Swing, & Doo-Wop & hope that they can learn to appreciate the amazing artists that once were, & those that still work hard to continue the traditional sounds & culture you hear today.
"Its a lifestyle!"
