Chad Bradford is one most promising up and coming artists out right now. His music is a reminder that not everybody has forgotten what is means to be country. Born in the rural northwest corner of Alabama, Chad began crafting his sound at the age of ten in the church choir, but it wasn’t long before he found himself just a few miles away, playing the bars in and around Muscle Shoals, Alabama, home of the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound. In the honkytonks at the age of eighteen, Chad got to pay tribute every night to his wide range of musical influences, singing songs from Elvis to Merle Haggard, Otis Reding to Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Shortly after graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.S in Medical Technology, Chad first tried his hand at studio work, collaborating with acclaimed writer, Walt Aldridge, and spending some time in the renowned, FAME studio. Still playing in the clubs and making a name for himself in north Alabama and south Tennessee, his time spent in the studio made Chad realize that medical school would have to wait. “Once the music gets into your blood, man, there ain’t nothin’ else you can do.” After winning the nationally renowned, Jimmy Dean Talent Contest, Chad decided that it was time. In January of 2000, he moved to Nashville and began to work every club up and down Broadway. And in 2005, Chad signed with JD Jam Records and began touring across the country.
Although Chad Bradford parted with JD Jam Records in 2008, two of the releases from his self-titled debut album spent time of the country charts: “Cornbread Fed,” which Chad co-wrote (#67) and “He Still Draws Them Together” (#44).
Chad continues to play in venues throughout the Southeast with a sound that pays homage to his heroes while being uniquely his own. It’s hard driving, outlaw country with a sharp, rockin’ southern edge infused with swampy Muscle Shoals soul.
