SUIVEN Foundation of Michigan
Serving the community since 1997...
re-launch and blast-off 2010.
Welcome to suiven.org, the official online HQ!
Updates, Up-coming Projects & Events
Welcome to our more forward-thinking , greatly improved website: SUIVEN.org. This is the official online headquarters of SUIVEN Foundation of Michigan (formerly SUIVEN Foundation of Highland Park) and its media arm, SFM MEDIA! It's such a pleasure to have you here.
EXPECT to be greeted by vivid, eye-catching colors of our neon borders to signify our refreshing of SUIVEN. Pay close attention to the updates on your left; the updates come with either upcoming events, videos, and/or heartfelt blogging about community, family, the way of life.
Be sure to browse throughout our website on the menu bar located above. Even though our website is greatly condensed from its predecessor, there is a lot to see, especially from our gallery.
As SUIVEN goes deeper into social networking/media, please be mindful to reach this foundation (mostly) through several of its social media outlets; they are located on the "CONTACT" page. Since SUIVEN is a "boutique" youth foundation, we want our online capabilities to be WIDESPREAD, beyond tangible reach.
Enjoy your visit on this site, and remember:
"24-7-365, SUIVEN's media is always near you!"

About SUIVEN
Our GOALS
Our goals are simple yet strong and obtainable. Observe, learn about, and ASSIST with helping reach these goals if you may:
-Classifying SUIVEN as a "BOUTIQUE" youth foundation, keeping foundation or facility size condensed for a feel of exclusivity & quality, as well as a tighter ratio between SUIVEN mentor and youth.
-Vice-versa to being a "boutique," INCREASE our reach and awareness of SUIVEN through social media, furthering our ever-expanding connections to other businesspeople and people "of the arts."
-Being able to provide food, clothing, and inspirational support to youth AND their families.
-Expanding to serve other youth in outlying communities, establishing programs or "stations" where they are located.
-Improving everyday; there is no limit to being a positive influence in a youth's life and personally learning from it.
SUIVEN (SOO-ven) Foundation of Michigan (formerly S.F. of Highland Park)* has been around for a while--matter of fact--it's been around since 1997. The founders, Nevius and Lela Harden ("Nevius" spelled backwards is "SUIVEN") established this foundation to educate underserved youth (ages 6-14) in life skills, cultural enrichment, after-school educational assistance, and other engaging programs including our flagship program: our annual fun-loaded and mind-renewing weekend camp. SUIVEN has served hundreds of children and their families in its community to the best of its ability since its inception.
For those who don't know, Highland Park, Michigan is a small, urban community inside the city of Detroit, and is known as the old hub for Henry Ford's Model T production.
Today, SUIVEN is taking a new road. The torch for SUIVEN has been passed to Joshua Shephard (see more about him in "The Crew") and new approaches are being taken to establish SUIVEN Foundation of Michigan as a lifeline, a staple in its community, with strong goals of expanding inside its community and out, reaching thousands upon thousands of youth with SUIVEN's and God's touch of love.
*SUIVEN Foundaion of Michigan is a federally registered 501c3 corporation in the state of Michigan.

BIO
JOSHUA SHEPHARD: Youth Mentor. Businessman. Multimedia. Fashionista. All of these words assigned to Shephard produces a powerful potential and an example to follow.
"I'm someone who's had his share of blessings and misfortunes, the former being satisfying and miraculous. I've overcomed so many personal and outer obstacles as a 'human being'--keep in mind--and so much more to go. What keeps me from going off the deep end? My focus on God...and the faces of all those children I see in my mind..."
Born into a single-parent household , Shephard, who has hearing impairment in both ears continued through over 20 years of life breaking boundaries and defying odds, including proving people who have told him "No, you can't"--wrong. Today, Shephard is President of SFM and creator of SFM Media (social media/blogging for SFM), and Coordinator of youth programs to be established in the metro Detroit area. In addition, Shephard is a youth mentor with his church group at a medium-security detention facility for young men. There are a host of accomplishments and future projects planned for the upcoming 2010 season.
Shephard has an Associate's in Liberal Arts and in General Studies, and is an approved business proprietor in the state of Michigan; Shephard has goals for greater education on a later date.

CONTACTING SUIVEN...
You've reached our Contacts page. Thank you for showing further interest in our revamped foundation and website by choosing to contact us. We work hard to bring as much info rmation to you through today's innovative technologies. However, this website is not the best we could do; we leave ourselves open to "evolving with the times," learning something new, and expanding in awareness of rapid advances and trends in today's world.
The youth we know today, are very enraptured into the wonders of technology, pop culture, and unfortunately, its traps. SUIVEN wants to make sure that it is a step ahead, through media, intervening and becoming a good friend to lead a youth from potential danger.
We are open to fresh, out-of-the-box ideas to establish and keep SUIVEN as a "trendsetter" so please don't hold back on your thoughts...or your donations that keeps us going, strictly to benefit the goodwill of our children/youth.
