.This semester our project was to create a viral video for a company called twiik a website design company. For those of you who dont know what a viral video is, it is a video that people like and then send it on to there friends via Email, Facebook, Twitter ect so it is free marketing if a video goes viral. Our goal from the start was to create a minimum of 3 full res videos.
.Our group did some research on viral videos and found common trends in them, that they were either cute, funny, had celebrates doing weird in them, and always seemed to push boundaries.
.We decided as a group to try and go down the track of making a funny video. We originally decided that we wanted to do an animation also looking at stop motion and claymation. This was because the original story bored that john (owner of twiik) gave us as a starting point seemed to be best fitting to animation.
.This started of with us story brooding over 12 dif storys just like the ones on the left here and then eventually cut it down to 4 witch we wanted to make a series out of.
.As we got further down the track of making the animation we realized as a group we may have made a mistake choosing animation. Seeing as no one in our group had prior experience in animation, so we spent a lot of time learning animation instead of doing the project. But we knew from the start this was going to happen.
.Our resources in our team stopped us from creating the animations to the level that we wanted. Also because we did what we thought at the time was best for the client at the time, it clouded our own imagination and creativity. This taught us an amassing lesson that when given a task always take a step back and rethink what you are doing and say can we do this better.
.I feel we did this a little to late when we had a crit with james he said that he didnt know who to crit because it was what john wanted meaning that it wasnt viral but we were making what the client was happy with, so were do you draw the line.
.At this point we decided to continue with the animations because we were already to far down the track with completing them and try to do something with a clean plate and do what ever we liked. This is were Super Geek was born. I feel that super geek so far is not viral in the first 4 days of being on YouTube it only has 312 views and my goal was to have at least 500,000 views for it to be as viral as I was aiming for. But I think that it has the opportunity because of the people who have seen it so far getting responses like haha this is bloody good and AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!! made my night :D :D so people think its funny and has a chance of being a viral video!
.In conclusion our group is very happy with the way that the project turned out and we surpassed out goal of creating 3 animations. Were we made 4 animations and a bonus video and john was very happy with the outcome. We also learned a whole bunch of stuff along the way! We as a team like to thank james, gabe and john for all your help with this project!
