Well well well, how busy we've been...with photo shoots and buying the van, I haven't had a chance to update you fine folks...
So, the van; a fine Suzuki Carry, with a rather nervous 1.3 under the hood. Photo's have been taken by Sam King, a noble character- www.sam-king.co.uk.
Next on the agenda, getting the van sign printed by J D Creative Digital Print Solutions with the British Leisure Show graphics and getting prepared for the Motor Festival.
10,000 miles of adventuring bliss through deserts, mountains and steppe tackled in a car your Granny would use for shopping. The Mongol Rally is hurling yourself at 1/3 of the Earth's surface in woefully unsuitable vehicles to see what happens. With all the odds stacked against us, we can only hope we make it to the finish line, Ulaanbaatar!
Click here to visit the official Mongol Rally website.
We like the world a lot, so one of the main goals of the rally is to raise vast bundles of cash for some awesome charities. So far the Mongol Rally alone has raised over £1.5 million pounds for charity. No mean feat we like to think.
As a team on the Mongol Rally we aim you to raise over a £1000 for charity at least £500 of which goes to the official Rally charity. Money which makes a massive difference to the lives of some of the poorest people in Mongolia.
The current official Charity is the Christina Noble Children's Foundation who do awesome work looking after orphans and street children in the capital Ulaanbaatar. The second charity is Cancer Research UK who are dedicated to saving lives through their ground breaking research.

The Christina Noble Children's Foundation
We aim to raise at least £500 for the CNCF.
The Christina Noble Children's Foundation is an International Partnership of people dedicated to serving underprivileged children with the hope of helping each child maximize their life potential. Our programmes in Vietnam and Mongolia seek to protect children at risk of economic and sexual exploitation, while ensuring these and other children in need have access to basic care and educational opportunities. The programmes include: emergency and long-term medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, educational and vocational training and job placement. This is accomplished within the context of the family and the community whenever possible, and always with love and respect for the dignity of each child as an individual.

We also aim to raise at least £500 for Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK support the work of more than 4,800 researchers, doctors and nurses throughout the UK, fighting cancer on all fronts. Every day, our researchers make cutting-edge discoveries in our labs, and our doctors and nurses pioneer new treatments with patients in hospitals.
Cancer Research UK run high-profile health awareness campaigns and provide clear information to help people understand more about cancer and the steps everyone can take to reduce their risk of developing the disease. We also lobby the government to make sure cancer stays at the top of the political agenda.

The Vehicle
With five of us going were not to keen on the idea of a Perodua or even the luxurious Mitiz.
Were looking to travel the 10,000 miles in a van. A Suzuki Carry!!
With a 1.3 under the bonnet were breaking all the rules, and with the 5 of us going is going into the workshop for a few modifications. At 1.4m wide its going to be a squeeze the whole way but exiting to say the least.
The Route
The route is over 9,000 miles it will take us from the biggest city in the UK, London to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We will be going from the more developed parts of western Europe like France and Germany, through parts of the eastern block, stopping in Prague for the czechout and to meet other teams starting there own journeys, after going through Austria we hit Hungary, then heading for Bulgaria, we will stop off in Bucuresti, Romania. After visiting friends in Greece, we will head in Turkey, then, crossing the Black Sea by ferry we arrive in Russia. After exploring Russia the Kazakhstan dust covered roads will lead us briefly into Russia again, before reaching our destination nation, Mongolia. Then all that's left is a few hundred miles of virtually non existent roads that will hopefully take us to the holy grail, Ulaanbaatar.
Its a massive journey, with a lot of scope for breakdowns, mishaps and bad luck. But we think we can do it. And so should you. All in all it should take us 6-8 weeks, with us donating the vehicle and all our equipment to the Mongolian Government to be used for transport or emergency service. Its a great cause and it would be amazing if you could get behind us.
