The Photographer
Jose de Luna received formal education in the Philippines from a prominent Jesuit institution, the Ateneo de Manila University from 1982-1986. After earning a degree in Business Management, he joined the university as a training coordinator in one of the university’s community outreach program. In 1991, de Luna decided to work outside the Philippines. He worked as a document specialist for the United Nations in Kuwait until 1995. In 1996, Jose joined Saudi Aramco as a desktop publisher, curriculum writer, and photography trainer.
In Jose de Luna’s photography, you will see a lot about human emotions and character, often transcending simple reality into great works of artistry. The creative style and approaches reflected in Jose de Luna’s photographic works are very much indicative of the unique Filipino tradition and culture, combining vibrant colors and strong contrasts that depict richness in visual elements.
Jose de Luna is a photographer and visual artist, creatively fusing his skills and ideas with the contemporary digital art form. As a professional, Jose de Luna has been instrumental in the promotion of photography and photographic arts by means of instructional media development. He has been conducting photography and digital imaging workshops and courses in the Middle East (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kingdom of Bahrain) for the last five years. At the same time, he utilized his creative techniques in designing various training materials, both print and online media, for a middle east oil company. To enhance his imaging techniques, he frequently accepts photography assignments in various genre, ranging from weddings, debuts and birthdays, special events, fashion and glamour portraiture, products and advertising, and travel and landscape photography.
