My Design philosophy began when my father gave me my first paper dolls when I was 7 years old. I was amazed how the flip of a tab would inspire new fashion adventures. I began drawing fashions and human forms but I couldn't quite draw human heads. My sister 's endearing nickname for me was "Peanut Head." So I began drawing peanut shaped heads and the problem was solved!
My Inspiration came from the Bible in the Book of Acts where I read about Tabitha of Joppa, a resourceful seaport in the Meditteranean. Tabitha was known for her tapestries and for her community service. The positive impact that she had on her community was well known. I wanted my comic strip character to have such an impact on those around her. Then when I learned that Joppa means Beautiful, I named my character Joppa and Joppa Dupree was born.
My Materials are inspired by my new kittens," Midnight and Sunset," as well as the crazy human behaviors that make up everyday life and the ironic ideas that masquerade as genius at times. Enjoy, purchase and leave a comment!
Warmly,
Shereen
