How to Submit Your Photos
Entrants must follow the steps outlined below to submit a photo to be considered for the contest. Failure to follow the procedure outlined, may result in disqualification. Photos must be at least 3.0 megapixels. Please set your camera’s image quality to the highest setting. Winners may be asked to provide photographs of higher quality.
1. First, resave the photo using the following format: “Entrant’s Last Name. Entrant’s First Name. Photo Number.” For
example, if Joe Smith entered three photos, the photos would respectively be named “Smith.Joe.1,” “Smith.Joe.2,” and
“Smith.Joe.3.”
2. Send an email to Jamie Mauer, Photo Contest Administrator, at advocate_jointcouncil.org in the following format:

4. When all of the above information is received, you will get a confirmation email.
5. Please wait five business days before contacting Joint Council about the status of your photograph/submission; you will
hear from us as soon as possible.
6. When we receive your photographs, they will be uploaded to Joint Council’s Facebook page or the Joint Council official
webpage.

Official Rules for Contest
Entry Period:
Sweet, Child of Mine Family Photo Contest begins at 12:01 EST on November 20, 2010 (National Adoption Day), and ends December 31, 2010, at 11:59 PM EST. Entries will not be returned. By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Official Rules and warrants that his or her entry complies with all requirements set out in the Official Rules. The decisions of the Judges are final and binding with respect to all matters relating to the contest.
Who May Enter:
The photo contest is open to all persons interested in child welfare issues related to finding children safe, loving, and permanent homes. Examples of some persons who may want to enter the contest are parents or employees of child welfare organizations.
How to Submit Your Photos:

2.Send an email to Jamie Mauer, Photo Contest Administrator, at advocate_jointcouncil.org in the following format:
a.The subject line of the email must be the name of the photo (see step #1 for how to name photos).
b.The body of the email should contain a short description of the photo, including who is in the photo and their
relationship to the others in the photo.
c.Attached to this email must be a Photo Release: Authorization to Reproduce accounting for all individuals whose
physical likeness is portrayed in the photograph. One release per family portrayed in the photo must be submitted.
For example, if the photo portrays a biological family and an adoptive family, two releases must be submitted, one
for the biological family and one for the adoptive family.
3.In the email, be sure to include the following:
a.Send your photograph(s) in JPG/JPEG or GIF format as an attachment to advocate_jointcouncil.org
b.You may send separate emails for each photograph submitted
For those individuals who do not have access to a scanner, Joint Council will accept electronic signatures. To create an electronic signature, simply type your name into the signature section of the release, save the document to your computer, and attach the document to an email as described in step 2 above.
5. Please wait five business days before contacting Joint Council about the status of your photograph/submission; you
will hear from us as soon as possible.
6. When we receive your photographs, they will be uploaded to Joint Councils Facebook page or the Joint Council official
How the Selection Process Works:
In Round One, a panel of judges will review the entries and select a group of entries to proceed to Round Two (2) on the basis of creative vision, originality, and appropriateness to the category.
In Round two (2) the Judges will collectively select the Top 25, from among the entries pre-selected in Round One (1), the winner based on polling results.
Online voting will begin January 18th for the Top 25 selected photographs. Voting will close February 1, 2011, at 11:59 PM EST where there will be the selected Top 5 finalists.
A winner from the Top 5 Finalist will be selected based on the majority of votes and if a tie occurs Judges will select the final winner. Top 5 finalists will be selected on or about February 7, 2011, and notified by email on or about February 15, 2011. Only winners will be notified.
Decisions of the Judges are final and binding.
Joint Council reserves the right to not award all prizes in the event that an insufficient number of eligible entries meeting the minimum judging criteria are received, as determined by Judges in their sole discretion.
Prizes
Winners will receive $15-50 gift cards from national companies.
General Conditions of Participation:
Each submitted photograph, in its entirety, must be a work of original material taken by the competition entrant. By entering the Contest, an entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the entrant; that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity; and that authorizing use of the Photograph as provided below in "Third Party Releases/Licenses from all persons who appear in the Photograph has been submitted. If you are unable to provide a personal release at the time of entrance, your entry may be disqualified.
The entries will be judged in accordance with the Judging Criteria, as defined herein.
Liability and Publicity Releases:
Upon entering the Contest, Entrant must provide a signed release from all persons who (1) appear in the photograph or (2) have copyrighted material of any kind that appears in the photograph, granting the Joint Council the rights to display their likeness or their copyrighted material as it appears in the photograph in any media whatsoever in connection with the Contest, its advertising, on Joint Councils website, in Contest exhibitions in publicity releases or other Contest related materials. Failure to provide such release in a timely manner may result in disqualification.
Entrant Licenses/Releases
If the photograph contains any material or elements that are not owned by the entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, and/or if any persons appear in the photograph, the entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the photograph, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the exhibition and use of the photograph in the manner set forth in these Official Rules without additional compensation. If any person appearing in any photograph is under the age of majority in their state/province/territory of residence, the signature of a parent or legal guardian is required on each release.
In addition, each entrant grants to Joint Council a license for use of his/her entry in connection with Sweet, Child of Mines Family Exhibition and promotion of Joint Council, in any media now or hereafter known, including but not limited to: publication in magazines showcasing the winners, at Joint Councils 2011 Annual Conference; Joint Councils website and other promotions. Such entrants license is a non-exclusive, worldwide, license to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries. Authorized Parties will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such use. Entrants retain full copyright of all submitted entries.
Third Party Releases:
Upon entering the Contest, entrant must provide a signed release from all persons who (1) appear in the photograph or (2) who have copyrighted material of any kind that appears in the photograph, granting the Authorized Partners the rights to display their likeness or their copyrighted material as it appears in the photograph in any media whatsoever in connection with Joint Council and the Contest, its advertising and website. Failure to provide such release in a timely manner may result in disqualification.
Limitation of Liability
By participating, entrants agree to release, discharge and hold harmless Joint Council and each of its respective partners, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies, agents and their employees, officers, directors, and representatives from any claims, losses, and damages arising from their participation in the Contest or any Contest related activities and the acceptance and use, misuse, or position of any prize awarded.
Joint Council and the Contest Sponsors assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Contest entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms. Joint Council and the Contest Sponsors are not responsible for any problems with or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online system, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any email entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or any website, human errors of any kind, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrants or any other persons computers related to or resulting from participation, uploading or downloading of any materials related to the Contest.

Joint Council and the Contest Sponsors are not responsible for electronic transmission errors resulting in omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operations or transmission, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alterations of entry materials, or for technical, network, telephone equipment, electronic, computer, hardware or software malfunctions or limitations of any kind, or inaccurate transmissions of or failure to receive entry information on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site or any combination thereof. If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Joint Council and Contest Sponsors reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Joint Council and the Sponsors reserve the right to select winners from eligible entries received as of the termination date. Joint Council and Sponsors further reserve the right to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process. Caution: Any attempt by a contestant to deliberately damage any Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the game is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Joint Council and the Sponsors reserves the right to seek damages from any such contestant to the fullest extent of the law.
Conditions:
THIS CONTEST IS VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. This Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Certain restrictions may apply. Entries void if Joint Council determines the entry not to be an original, or if the entries are illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error or obtained through fraud or theft.
Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; (b) that the decisions of the Judges are final on all matters relating to the Contest; and (c) if he/she wins that Joint Council may use each winner's name, photograph, likeness, and/or voice in any publicity or advertising relating to the Contest or future promotions without compensation or approval (except where prohibited by law). All federal, state and local taxes, fees and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the prizewinners. In the event that the selected winner(s) of any prize are/is ineligible or refuses the prize, the prize will be forfeited and Joint Council, in their sole discretion, may choose whether to award the prize to entrants.
Right to Cancel or Suspend Contest:
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, due to infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, denial of service attacks, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Joint Council that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Joint Council reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual(s) who tamper with the entry process, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest. If Joint Council elects to cancel or terminate the Contest, Joint Council will not retain any rights in the submitted photographs.
