ARTIST
John Afolayan. Fr is a multi-media artist with uncommon creative prowess
and vision. He received his artistic training and scholastic exposures in Nigeria, West Africa;
which he develops continually under the spiritual light and radiation of the Ultimate
Creative One.
John was born in Osogbo, a Yoruba town in the region of Osun in Nigeria, not
more than 18 miles away from the ancient city of Ife, the cradle of the Yoruba Universe.
Put simply, John is an artist that is committed to the artistic creation and promotion of the
classical and contemporary African art and heritage towards the development of the
universal beings and environments.
John (also known as Father John or FrJohn) is renowned for his masterful art and design
in classical and contemporary African paintings, Textile art and design, Hand woven Tapestry, Graphic
art and design, Panel works, Wood sculptures, Computer art, Photographic art and design, Installation
art, Mural works, poetry and Book writings.
His works had been recognised, appreciated, collected, exhibited and published by some
private individuals, organisations and corporate bodies / institutions in countries like Nigeria, Ghana,
Benin Republic, Cote D'Ivoire, France, Holland, Germany, Canada, Ukraine, Russia and the United
State of America. He exposes his works on regular basis in private galleries and Museums in Osogbo
(Nigeria), Badagry (Nigeria), Porto-novo (Benin Republic), Oakland (California, USA), Rockhn
(California, USA).
