It was Career Day in elementary school and all the children had to dress up as what they wanted to be when they “grew up”. Some kids dressed as doctors or nurses, police or fire fighters, even lawyers. Johnny wore black slacks, a shirt and a sports coat with a microphone in hand. When asked what he wanted to be, his answer was clear, A Comedian. Even though he hasn’t grown much since then, Johnny Trabs has successfully become one of South Florida’s up and coming comics.
EMMY Award Winning Johnny Trabs has been performing the art of Comedy for over 12 years. He is one half of the award winning sketch comedy duo “A Pair of Nuts” along with fellow comedian Yamil Piedra. With “A Pair of Nuts” Johnny has headlined comedy clubs, colleges and military bases nation wide. The “Nuts” have been featured on NBC's Last Call w/ Carson Daly, BET, NBC, Discovery Channel, Mega TV and all over the internet. In 2009 they were invited to perform at the Comedy Central stage in L.A. where they received a standing ovation. In 2010, the “Nuts" are at it again as they were invited to headline at the South Beach Comedy Festival’s Preview Night. Recently the Nuts video "Gayo" was featured on Comedy Central's "Tosh.0".
Johnny has been performing stand-up for the past few years with much success. His humor derives from all the new experiences of being a new husband and a young father, as well as all the non-sense that he encounters everyday. Highly energetic and intense, Johnny connects with both young college crowds and older hip audiences. He recently placed Top 3 in a stand up competition at the Miami Improv, taking the top prize at the Improv's annual Turkey Contest, and just recently won the 1st Annual Miami Improv Comedy Derby. Last year he was also invited to perform at the South Beach Comedy Festival’s Local All-Stars Showcase. Johnny has performed at the Laugh Factory, South Florida Improvs and headlined Bonkerz Comedy Clubs, The National Lampoon Undergound Comedy Club, The Comedy Inn and several other rooms in Florida. He has worked with comics like Jo Koy, Paul Rodriguez, Bobby Slayton and Doug Benson, etc.
Currently Johnny Trabs was “Readers Choice Best Local Comic 2011” in SunPost Weekly and was also named one of the “Best Comics in Miami 2010” By CBS Miami. He wrote and starred in the new international sketch comedy show by MegaFilms entitled “El Vacilon” which airs on Mega TV and also starred in the new hit reality show on VH1 called "Money Hungry".
