Through installation and mixed media Johanna explores our relationship to objects and spaces. Using the perception of visual taste and an interest in the artificial, her work considers the ways in which spaces and objects affect us and how environments may become psychological extensions of the self. Her current work is particularly inspired by Schopenhauer's feeling of the Sublime, wherein he describes the "Full Feeling of the Sublime as the pleasure of seeing a violent object of magnitude and the Fullest Feeling of the Sublime as the immensity of Universe's extent or duration."
