Barefoot Church Celebrate Recovery
701 Main Street North Myrtle Beach SC 29582
We meet every Monday Night at Barefoot Church!
We are Barefoot Church Celebrate Recovery (BCCR). Celebrate Recovery (CR) was started in 1991 at Saddleback Church by John Baker. CR is now all over the country and the world and has helped thousands and thousands of people gain freedom from their hurts, hang-ups & habits by applying Biblical principles to their lives.
At BCCR we desire through Gods grace and the love of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ to model CR at Saddleback Church and to change lives that change the world in our local community. It is our hope that this site can be used as a tool for our regular attendees and for people who want to find out what we're all about. And you can do this from the comfort of your own home. This is not meant to replace joining us on Monday nights though!
We start at 6:00 with food & fellowship.
At 7:00 we have our Large Group time with Praise & Worship and either a testimony or a teaching.
At 8:00 we break into our Small Share Groups which are gender & recovery specific. Then at 9:00 we finish up the evening with coffee, snacks & more fellowship time.
Feel free to join us for all or any part of our Monday nights!

The 12 Steps and Their Biblical Comparisons
Step 3:
Made a decision to turn our life and our will over to the care of God.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your spiritual act of worship."
Romans 12:1
Step 4:
We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
"Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD."
Lamentations 3:40
Step 1:
We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and
compulsive behavior; that our lives had become unmanageable.
"I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out."
Romans 7:18
Step 2:
Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could
restore us to sanity.
"For it is God who is at work in you to will and to act according to his good purpose."
Philippians 2:13
Steps 5-8
Step 7:
We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
1 John 1:9
Step 8:
We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." *
Luke 6:31
Step 5:
We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being, the exact nature of our wrongs.
"Therefore, confess your sins to each other, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed."
James 5:16a
Step 6:
We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."
James 4:10
* Letters in Red are the words of Jesus.
Steps 9-12
Steps 1-4
Step 9:
We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; and then come and offer your gift."
Matthew 5:23-24
Step 10:
We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
"So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you dont fall!"
1 Corinthians 10:12
Step 11:
We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly."
Colossians 3:16a
Step 12:
Having had a spiritual experience as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and practice these principles in all our affairs.
"Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted."
Galatians 6:1
Celebrate Recovery's Eight Recovery Principles
The Road to Recovery Based on the Beatitudes
Realize Im not God; I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable. (Step 1)
"Happy are those who know that they are spiritually poor." *
Matthew 5:3
Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him and that He has the power to help me recover.
(Step 2)
"Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
Matthew 5:4
Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christs care and control. (Step 3)
"Happy are the meek."
Matthew 5:5
Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.
(Steps 4 and 5)
"Happy are the pure in heart."
Matthew 5:8
Principles 5-8
Voluntarily submit to any and all changes God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.
(Steps 6 and 7)
"Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires."
Matthew 5:6
Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm Ive done to others when possible, except when to do so would harm them or others. (Steps 8 and 9)
"Happy are the merciful."
Matthew 5:7
"Happy are the peacemakers."
Matthew 5:9
Reserve a time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.
(Steps 10 and 11)
Yield myself to God to be used to bring this Good News to others, both by my example and my words.
(Step 12)
"Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires."
Matthew 5:10
Principles 1-4
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.

Happy New Year Everyone! The First Annual Barefoot Church New Year's Bash was a smashing success. Youth from a Baptist Church in Tabor City came and entertained us with a mime show and beautiful music. Sacred Blend did an hour long set with a Holy Spirit filled altar call at the end leading up to midnight. Over 30 people stayed overnight to have a safe place to ring in the New Year.
Monday night, we had well over 100 people who came to start the year off right. We had a record number of people come up to pick up chips to start fresh and allow the Holy Spirit to heal their hurt, hang up or habit. Barry did an excellent job on the lesson on Denial. He mentioned that this first step is the only one that has to be worked perfectly. If we don't fully surrender our pain to the Holy Spirit, he can't take that weakness and turn it into His strength.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Don't forget the training this Saturday from 9:00 -12:00 at the church office. Liz and Tim have planned an interactive lesson on sponsorship complete with prizes! See you all then.
It was another great night at Barefoot Church Celebrate Recovery. We had 96 people show up which included 12 kids in the Celebrate Station program. These children will be doing the same steps as we do throughout the year. Our goal is to help the whole family find recovery and grow in their relationship with Christ. Good job Debra, Rachel and all the helpers that have committed to making this program a success.
We had a speaker from Wilmington, NC Monday night. Her name was Lori, and she gave a powerful testimony that communicated hope throughout her testimony. It is proof that we can be truly changed through a relationship with Christ. Through her testimony she communicated Gods transformation in her life that allows her to be a mom and a great servant in God's kingdom.
The leadership would like to encourage everyone to be bold and invite people to church on Sunday and CR on Monday nights. As the pastor told us in the video lesson on Sunday we serve an awesome God who is capable of anything he chooses to do. We need to introduce people to Him whenever we get the chance. We need to always believe that He can and will help us if we choose to rely on Him... "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (Phil. 4:13)
