Born in 1982, in Queens New York City, Daniel holds a B.A in Theater, from Morehouse College and a M.F.A, in Directing, from New York University, Tisch Graduate Film School of the Arts.
Recently, Daniel co directed a film with Justin Staley entitled STAG & DOE, and it won the American Black Film Festival Short Film category, later being distributed by the HBO network.
His feature length debut as Director of Photography, GUN HILL ROAD was in competition (grad jury nominee) at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and was released in theaters August of 2011.
Daniel has shot a number of award winning short films, 6 landing HBO distribution and 2 films won jury prizes at the 2011 D.G.A Student Film Awards.
Always eager to learn from seasoned creators, Daniel had the experience of being a camera operator on Spike Lee’s Sundance Film Festival debut, PASSING STRANGE, the musical. Daniel was also a camera operator on Lee’s State Farm “9/11” commercial, which premiered nationally during the NFL SuperBowl halftime.
THE FIRE THIS TIME, 25 TO LIFE and SWEET HANDS are 3 feature length documentaries (2012 debuts), in which Daniel DP’d, that have received a Ford Foundation Grant, Sundance Grants and Tribeca All Access support.
Commercially, Daniel has shot promotional spots for TRUE BLOOD, a HBO drama series.
