About Jeff
Local boy, amateur photographer Jeff Okuna, has grown up and lived most of his life here on the Big Island of Hawaii. Jeff says that "I'm fortunate to have been raised here in hawaii, and that is what makes me a well grounded person."
Jeff has always been interested in creative digital photograpy starting off as a hobby, while taking surf photo's of his buddies and others at local surf spots on the Big Island. Being mostly self taught and eventually wanting to learn more, with some help & encouragment while learning under 50 year professional photographer Robert Weygand Sr. has made him appreciate life's moments a little more

Options:
Printing
In an effort to provide the best possible rate, we currently leave printing options up to our client(s). That way you can print your images through the photo lab of your choice making your photography as affordable as possible. If you don't want to do your own printing then you'll also have the option of having us print your images professionally (additional seperate fees apply for prints).
Custom Prints/Images
Along the creative side is where JKOkuna Photography lays it's mark. Our high quality digital images can be transformed from your typical color images into black & white, or sephia images. We can remove any imperfections or blemishes within each photograph, or add softness for a more dramatic effect, our custom post production options will give your photo's a custom & unique feel, how it should be everytime you look at your images. Your imagination is the limit. (Seperate fees apply per image work requested and not per hour) Your disc will also include a few random custom images with no added fee. Albums
I'm sorry but we currently don't offer an album option at this time. Although we are working on it, in order to provide our customers with the best possible rate we have left this option entirely up to you. Most people actually prefer to make their own albums, and you can do so with the provided images you'll receive on disc..
Enlargements
Our photos are shot in RAW format for optimum clarity, and with a minimum resolution of 10mp and so you'll have ample resolution for photo enlargements should you want to do so.

Info on rates:
I do not consider myself and I am not a professional photographer. This means, I do not live off of photo shoot earnings and that I take my photographs as a hobby more so then a profession. You'll find that it's because of this reason I am able to charge considerably less then other professional photographers.
Im fully aware of today's economic situation and so I am willing to offer a more flexible rate when compared to other photographers. I feel that just because you have a birthday party, sporting event, engagement, or wedding event doesn't mean that you shouldn't be able to afford a photographer. It's all the more reason why you SHOULD have a photographer! This is what I want to offer to all of my clients, the option of having a photographer for your event. After all if can, can! If no can, then no can!
Rates:
All photography rates have recently been reduced from the orignal price of $220 per hour, and now currently begin _ $150 per hour, this fee applies to all photographic services except commercial work. In most cases all booked events will include two photographers for your event instead of one. *If for some reason my rates still don't fit your budget, please contact me.
*Previously required was a 50% deposit for all events during booking. The deposit has been waived and payment for services rendered are now due on the date of your event. You will not recieve your finished images untill your balance has been paid in full. If for some reason you would like to cancel your reservation prior to your event then please let me know.
Please book your date by using our "Schedule and Contact" page. All booked events are displayed. Payments can be made in person or via PAYPAL.. Checks are accepted and images will not be released untill checks have cleared. (small service fee applies to PAYPAL payments)

Frequently Asked Questions
Why dont you book on the weekdays?
I'm an amateur photographer. Next to photography I have a full time job, and although I do make every effort to make accomodations for all of my clients, some times I am unable to book events during the weekdays. Do not let this discourage you, please contact me to inquire about availability. I am only able to make so many exceptions.
Where are my photos?
Sometimes it may take longer then expected to recieve your images, the reason for this is that I work on images in the order that my photographic services are contracted. It's the only fair way to process the photographs. If you are leaving the Island and wish to take the images with you before you leave, I will make every effort to expedite the process however often times I will have the disc shipped to your home address. *Your photos will not be processed untill your balance has been paid in full.
Can I view my photos online?
Yes, after your done with the photo shoot, we will contact you via email about your password for the online gallery. You'll have access to a locked gallery where proofs of your images can be viewed online. Sorry, you can't download these images, you'll have to wait till you recieve a copy of your images sent to you on disc. Your online gallery's password can be given to family or friends for viewing, images can also be purchased and custom prints can be made through the use of our online gallery feature. Can I pick a location?
If you'd like to pick your own location, please feel free to do so it wont be a problem at all.
Weather?
Hawaii is often subject to unpredictable weather, I high suggest booking during the beginning of your stay, not towards the end. In the event that we need to post pone the photography due to bad weather, we'll have time to shoot at a later date when the weather is better.
How much are your services?
Rates previously started at $220.00 per hour for all photographic services. current rates are as follows:
$150.00 per hour (for all non commercial photography)
+ Hawaii Sales tax 4.166%
(if paying via PAYPAL there will be an additional service fee)
Payment methods accepted: E Checks/Credit/Debit cards via PAYPAL only, checks and cash payments can be made in person. If you are on a budget then please let us know, we are more then willing to make your day happen for you
What should we wear?
This varies by location, I honestly suggest wearing something that make you feel comfortable, if we are shooting at the beach wear something that you dont mind getting a little sand on. Group portraits, large family portraits often look good when individuals wear the same style of clothings (same color aloha print shirts, etc) but you are not limited to what you want to wear at all.
How can I view your work?
I appologize for this, but I've been having a hard time displaying my images, and I'm trying to figure out a solution to this problem, but have not yet found one. For the time being you can view some of my images and work done at my photoblog www.jkokunaphotography.blogspot.com
