Coalition of Hopkins Activists for Israel
CHAI, the Coalition of Hopkins Activists for Israel, is JHU's Israel advocacy club. Students host a variety of events to raise cultural, historical, and political awareness of Israel, which include speakers, movies, and the widely popular annual Israel Fair.
In addition to organizing a wide array of programs, CHAI creates a forum for discussion at its weekly meetings for students who wish to become informed about current events and contribute to the ongoing Israel dialogue on campus and worldwide. CHAI works closely with the wider student body to promote Israel in a positive manner.
Founded in 2001, the Coalition of Hopkins Activists for Israel constantly strives to empower its members by disseminating information in order to strengthen advocacy skills, enabling educated verbal and written defense of the Jewish State.
Many of CHAI's members travel to Israel frequently, visiting friends and family, participating on Taglit-Birthright trips and Alternative Breaks, as well as for Israel Advocacy Training. Members also travel to DC to lobby for Israel and to other cities in the US to attend various Israel-related conferences.
CHAI often partners with such organizations as AIPAC, The David Project, Hasbara Fellows, JNF, MASA, Young Judaea, StandWithUs, and other international, local, and University-affiliated groups.
