Having just finished celebrating our 2nd Fourth of July here at our Clubhouse, it is fantastic to see so many of our residents using the pool and its facilities. Cathy Johnson is doing a bang up job keeping up with sales and making the weekly trips to Sam’s to load up on supplies. She has found a fantastic angus hamburger patty and if you haven’t tried one yet, treat the family during your next visit. They are great!
Randy Watson has been doing a super job as manager of our facility, supervising our staff of lifeguards and has fielded your compliments as well as your concerns like a pro. One of those related to the need for additional chaise lounges, which the developer, Shreveport Development, has since ordered. Although we cannot come to the aid of the Association for every request made, we do want to give it every chance to grow into a positive pro active organization.
Shreveport Development has also installed a Splash Park for the younger kids and pets in Milbank Park along with a climber and benches for other activities. This home grown amenity has solar cell controls over the water valves which allow them to turn on or off and at different heights during the run cycle. Please note that the pump will tend to loose its prime after sitting awhile, so be patient when it first starts up.
Within the next two weeks, I will be meeting with the home builders regarding the second unit of Bienville Path. Although housing may be slow elsewhere, we have been fortunate that home sales are strong in Twelve Oaks.
You may be wondering about the extra dirt being placed by the road contractor on the shopping center site. Although we will not use all that is there, this will allow our community shopping center to have more topographical relief.
Speaking of The Market at Twelve Oaks, we have had preliminary discussions with The Fresh Market. Although they have not yet committed to Shreveport, we are expecting a second visit through our community sometime within the next two months so keep your yards manicured and your yard lights bright. Should you know of other businesses you would like to see in the center or know an active business seeking another location, feel free to have them call me. Hopefully, as the road construction takes shape, we will begin to plan for the opening of this much anticipated shopping center.
