Raised during an era when MTV still played music videos, Jeremy Curl grew up with a passion for music. Between playing in rock bands in high school and being heavily influenced by the synth pop sounds of the 80's, he began to gravitate more towards basslines, high hats, kick and snares. After hearing artists like Goldie, Portishead & Prodigy, he had an epiphany and realized electronic music was his true calling.
In 1996 he got a taste of jungle/DnB and started playing out at some of Reno's first raves that booked this genre. A couple years later, in 2001, he became an LA transplant & brought his love of mixing with him into their private mansion parties and raves. His style also moved into a classier 2-step, downtempo and house music direction which was a good fit for that crowd. His next step was another move down to sunny San Diego in 2003, where he hooked up with Urban Renewal Project, helping with art openings, store openings, more private parties and first started dabbling with music production.
All of these experiences came into play when his next move was back to Reno in 2005. He took up residency at the immensely popular Tonic Lounge for a couple of years and created the now legendary Keep Reno Dirty party series. The mission of these parties was, and continues to be, promoting the preservation of house music in Reno and donating a portion of the proceeds to local charities.
Around the time KRD first started taking off, he co-founded Renovation Records and became one half of Penny Traders and FRENZ, 2 live PA acts, alongside fellow Reno pioneer Alcheme. Jeremy also began extensive training in multi-media arts at this time and started incorporating this into his live acts.
His recently upgraded studio gives him the ability to build and perform live sets that consist of very bass heavy, chunky, midtempo swagger complemented by specialized video during his set.
A fine example of a true multi-talented entrepreneur who is constantly changing and evolving to move his sound and stage presence forward. This jack of all trades is known for being a highly involved contributor to every scene he has ever been a part of and those who have had the opportunity to work closely with him can attest to that.
