It for Dominica
The IT for Dominica project provides students and educators access to computing technologies and services, creates school partnerships, leads professional development activities, provides technical training, support, installations and instruction.
This course will introduce teachers and administrators to integrating Web 1.0 (email and web browsing, searching) and Web 2.0 teaching tools into classrooms to enhance student learning.
Participants will explore various practical applications for using technology and integrating it into the curriculum. Resources for incorporating audio, video, and images classroom will be explored. Open source, free, accessible software options will be shared.
This course recognizes that students will require contemporary learning to meet the demands of tomorrows workforce. It also recognizes that increasing advancements in the availability of technology will provide greater opportunity for student learning. Participants will focus on providing instruction to K-12 students using these technologies with a focus on learning, rather than social intent.
The course will provide opportunity for discussions and methods of addressing student safety on the Internet. Web 2.0 technologies covered in the course will include wikis, blogs, glogster, audio tools, video and image tools, social networking sites (for discussions of student safety), and other stand-alone web 2.0 websites

Jen Deyenberg
Jen is an elementary teacher, graduate student, and technology enthusiast. She is moving to Scotland in September to see more to the world. Her interests range from computers, reading, swimming, geocaching, hiking, and jogging. It is her third trip to Dominica!
Jen is currently pursuing her Masters in Education with a specialization in Information Technology Leadership at the University of Lethbridge
Rocky Wilson
Rocky is a technology integration specialist with Palliser Regional Schools, traveling to help teachers use and integrate technology in their classrooms. Rocky is also currently pursing his Masters in Ecuation with a specialization in Information Technology Leadership at the University of Lethbridge.
Project Founder - Dr. Maurice Hollingsworth
Maurice received his B.Ed (1978) from the University of Lethbridge. He then earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education and Rehabilitation (1981) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science Education (1987) from the University of Oregon.
Maurice has used these experiences in his international role, working with the Ministry of Education in the Commonwealth of Dominica. As Project Head for the IT for Dominica Project, he has developed collaborative partnerships to provide professional development, technologies, supports, and consultation for educators and the Ministry.
