JDC West is the largest student run business competition in Western Canada and is a three day event that showcases academic competitions, athletic challenges, a social competition and a charity initiative. Over 500 students from 11 of Western Canada's top Universities unite annually to compete in this competition that is solely organized by and for business students.
This January, 53 students from the Asper School of Business will compete in 10 academic cases, debate, sports, and social competitions in Saskatoon, all in the hopes of being named
"School of The Year".
JDC West promises to build upon its already sound reputation as the most prominent, and fastest growing competition for business students in Western Canada. JDC West boasts a synergy of academic, sporting, social and stewardship events that develop exceptional skill sets and character. JDC West provides a medium through which new contacts, relationships and friendships are forged between people from all across Canada: between students, schools and the business community.
2011 Theme: Going Against the Grain
The theme of JDC West 2011 is Going Against the Grain. The theme will be woven through every aspect of the 2011 JDC West Business Competition. Going Against the Grain encourages competitors to think unconventionally and implement innovative business practices while demonstrating exceptional leadership
"As Co-Captains for the JDC West team, we are extremely excited for the competition in January. Our social, sports, debate, and 10 academic case teams have been preparing hard throughout the term, and we are confident this year will mark Team Toba's best showing at JDC West! "
- Mike Gould & Scott Greenhalgh
The unique feature of JDC West is that the competition challenges students beyond academics, attempting to promote work-life balance.
The 11 competing schools raise funds for local charities, and volunteer in the community in the months leading up to JDC West. All schools take part in a "Chilling 4 Charity" fundraiser in the month of November.
This year, Team Toba is looking to eclipse last years total of $16,000 raised at Chilling 4 Charity. With strong support from RBC and the Associates, we are confident we will break this goal and make a larger impact in our community!
The JDC West team would like to thank all of our corporate partners for their support. It is only through the generosity of these organizations that we are able to take part in the JDC West Business Competition. We hope to make you proud in Saskatoon this January!
