Updates
You will receive updated information on how well your child is progressing in both Fast Math and Reading every 3 weeks.
Fast Math
This is a computer program at school that encourages your child to memorize needed addition and multiplication facts that will help them succeed in math. With these facts memorized, your child is free to concentrate on new concepts taught each day without still struggling to remember how much 9 x 4 is or anything else. Please get on our website, click on links, Favorite Links and then on A+ Math. It offers your child to work on Multiplication, or addition flashcards etc. at home on the computer. If they practice on this everyday, they will complete Fast Math much more quickly.
Reading
Your child is given a test first part of the school year. By reading IN their lexile level, they are not frustrated but find more enjoyment as they read. Please encourage your child to read at home so they can return to school ready to take a book test when they return to school. That gets them the needed amount of points to help them become the best reader they can be. Good reading helps them in all subject areas.

It'sAbout
you and me communicating
I've been teaching here for 6 years now. This is a geat place to work because the teachers, the principal, and our superintendent really care about your children.
I'm honored to belong to such a great staff, but we are only as good as you make us. Since we're not perfect, we really need to communicate with you. If there are things you need to address, let us know and be sure to give us a way to contact you so we can quickly contact you back.
Your child deserves a teacher that can give them their very best. So please let me know how I can be that for your child.
Activities
Lessons we're working on.
English - descriptive writing Math - pgs. pg. 672-688 evaluating expressions-distributive property Reading- cause and effect History- Early times of Texas as a state Science - rocks Spelling- "www.spellingcity.com" for current list writing - the difference between narrative and expository writing
Music is wonderful to help them relax, but if they can't concentrate I won't be playing it. I do have earphones for each child to use in class, however, as well as dividers. These help reduce the amout of distractions they may have. These are optional unless we are having a test. Then I require dividers.
We usually have reading tests on Wednesay or Thursday. Spelling tests are given on Thursday and if they pass they do not take it on Friday. On Friday they have their math test.
If my students work together on behaving well, they are given privilages. One of these are healthy snacks they can bring from home, Also we enjoy a generally more relaxed atmosphere during the school day when they consistently work hard and obeying classroom rules.
