OUR STORY
Restore Brazil is a story of God's grace and faithfulness.
In 2005 Jay & Luciane met in Rio de Janeiro. Jay, a church planter and former business consultant, and Lu, a Brazilian attorney, wed in the fall of 2007.
Luciane was working in the favelas (slums) on the weekends, volunteering with a fledgling church plant.
Jay, a co-founding pastor at Cross Pointe Church in Orlando, embraced a city and a country that they would soon call home.

We plant gospel-centered churches in the cities of Brazil. Through partnerships with several Brazilian and US-based organizations, we seek to assist by all means possible in getting new churches started in the cities of Brazil. In 2010, our focus is in urban Rio de Janerio. We have a special heart for church plants among the poor, in the favelas (slums). We believe that God has a special heart for the orphans and widows in these drug-infested and crime-ridden environments. At the same time, there is a great need for the burgeoning upper-class of Brazil to be exposed to the Gospel of Jesus.
Serving the church is what we do. Planting churches includes sourcing, assessing, and consulting with potential church planters to help them discern God's call on their lives. While Restore Brazil is not primarily a funding organization, we may assist financially in specific projects as needs arise.
CITYWIDE NETWORKS
CITYWIDE CHURCH PLANTING NETWORKS
In the US new churches are starting every week. Hundreds of networks have been formed to see new churches planted. In Brazil, the church planting landscape is entirely different. There are few citywide church planting networks established. There is a need for gospel-centered networks to infiltrate all of the major cities in Brazil, from Sao Paulo to Brasilia.
It is the vision of Restore Brazil to develop citywide church planting movements in all of the major cities of Brazil. We are beginning in Rio de Janeiro in the fall of 2009. Our goal is to establish citywide church planting networks in all of the cities over two million people by 2015. This includes:

As part of the Restore Brazil citywide church planting networks, we seek to equip and train pastors and church planters in rich, gospel-centered theology. At the same time, we wish to help them consider the personal and corporate implications of the Gospel for their lives and ministries. In essence, to preach the Gospel to themselves first.
Monthly or quarterly Network and Training meetings will serve as an opportunity for pastors to gather and be challenged. Many Brazilian pastors have commented that there is a real lack of theological training in Brazil. Many potential pastors do not have the means to attend seminary. We hope to help advance gospel-centered theological education in Brazil by providing free and inexpensive alternatives.
We envision a yearly church planting conference, and a bi-annual theological conference in conjuction with some of our US-based partners.

SOWING AMONG THE POOR
Poverty is obvious to anyone visiting Brazil for the first time. The favelas (slums) are everywhere, and many rural areas are tragically poor. Mountainsides are littered with shacks, housing tens of thosands of people in nearly every major city of Brazil.
We seek to connect with both US and Brazilian-based organizations to meet some of the simple human needs such as food, water, housing. Our purpose is not to be a relief organization but rather to identify opportunities for such organizations and individuals to connect, to meet the very real needs that exist.
This connection also serves as a means to proclaim the Gospel to communities in need. We've seen that new churches can be planted simply because needs are met.

SOCIAL ADVOCACY
SOCIAL ADVOCACY
Why would a church planting organization engage in social advocacy? As a means to proclaim the Gospel.
Brazil is a country with much violence and corruption. Despite the "revivals" of the 80's and 90's and all of the movement towards evangelicalism, the culture has not been transformed. This is why we hear of drug traffickers asking for their pastors blessing prior to going out and doing their deeds. A form of Godliness exists without the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
The Gospel should transform the society. This is why gospel-centered churches are so important, and this is why the church in Brazil should engage in measures to speak out against senseless killings, various human rights abuses such as slavery, sextrafficking, human trafficking, and systemic corruption.
