The ACE Academy is a nationally recognized program co-sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE).
ACE Academy is a program designed to offer an introduction to the aviation industry and aviation careers to middle and high school students. The goal is to provide an opportunity that will provide insight and a hands on experience for students to learn the history of aviation, fundamentals of aerodynamics, the role of government in aviation, pioneers in aviation and the many careers available in the aviation industry. New to our program is the incorporation of STEM. Students will learn aviation concepts tailored to their education in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM).
The Charlton Camp for Aviation, Science and Technology and Training
The Charlton Camp for Aviation, Science and Technology Training (CCASTT) Foundation is 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to effectively compete for the minds, imaginations and career ambitions of students (K-12) representing underserved communities, in the areas of Health, Aviation, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. From its inception, CCASTT has been structured to organize and deliver an educational program designed to directly impact our economys future workforce development.
CCASTT team members external affiliations provide the Foundation with access to a vast network of airlines, government agencies, universities, fraternal and community-based organizations, school districts, branches of the United States Armed Forces, medical boards and other outreach programs.

Chris Brown is a third-year Jacksonville ACE Academy Curriculum Instructor.
He is a pilot with Continental Airlines. Prior to his current position, he was employed by Atlantic Southeast Airlines and Independence Air.
Chris obtained a bachelors degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) in Daytona Beach, Florida. While attending ERAU, he earned all of his flight ratings and served as a flight instructor for three years at the university.
Chris is from Kingston, Jamaica.

Originally from Albany, Georgia, Valencia Floyd was born on October 12, 1966. She has been a resident of Jacksonville, Florida for the greater part of her life, attending public schools and graduating from Jean Ribault High School in 1984. Valencia attended Florida A & M University where she was a member of the Marching 100 Band.
Valencia is employed as a Paralegal with the Davis Law Group, P.L. and operates as the office manager for the firm. Valencia also is the founder and owner of Dream Meeting and Tours, an event planning and travel business in which she opened in 2007. In addition, Valencia enjoys her travel as the on-site coordinator for OJA Meetings and Associates.
Valencia serves on the board of Creating Healthy Families as vice-chair and on the executive board of National Gospel Choir Festival and Workshop. She is the president of the Special Events Ministry at First Baptist Church of Mandarin in Jacksonville where she enjoys coordinating the numerous events and programs of the church.
Valencia is currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix completing her undergraduate studies in Business Management and holds certifications in Wedding Planning and Christian Counseling. She spends her spare time with her two beautiful daughters that are attending Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida.
As seen, Valencia enjoys music, planning, and her work for the Lord.
Mr. Roosevelt Lenard has been an integral part of the NBCFAE for several years. He served two and a half terms as Southern Region President. He is presently serving in the capacity of Southern Region Vice President. He has also served as a Chapter President, Regional Parliamentarian and Special Assistant to the National President. He has worked on the NBCFAE National EEO Action Committee. In that position he addressed systemic problems within the agency in reference to minorities. He has also worked on the National Presidents commission. His position on the National Presidents Commission addressed concerns in reference to the working relationship between the organization and the agency. Mr. Lenard has consistently dedicated his time and expertise into bettering the atmosphere and working conditions of minority employees in the agency.
Mr. Roosevelt Lenard, was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He graduated from Alabama State University, majoring in Computer Information Systems. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Lenard began working for the FAA in 1983 in Atlanta, GA. He relocated to Jacksonville ARTCCenter in 1986 where he works presently as a Front Line Manager.

Terrance Smith was born In Washington Township, New Jersey . He graduated from Timber Creek High School in 2006. He Then attended Guilford Technical Community College in Greensboro North Carolina majoring in Aviation Management while earning his Private Pilot License in Winston Salem. After graduating from GTCC in 2008 Terrance enrolled himself at Delta Connection Academy in Sanford Florida, where he has revived the rest of his pilot certificates. Terrance has recently been offered an Instructor Position at Delta Connection Academy, while instructing Terrance plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.

Admission is offered to boys and girls from 14 to 18 years old who have an interest in learning about aviation. Applicants are competitively ranked based on age, cumulative GPA and recommendations.
Students must be physically capable of participating in camp activities.
High standards of behavior and self-discipline are expected and students must abide by all camp regulations.
The application deadline is Monday, June 28, 2010.

2. Submit a copy of your transcript or report card indicating your cumulative GPA (no need for original)

Academy Overview
The Jacksonville Aviation Career Education (ACE) is a week-long program. The Academy offers an interactive introduction to the aviation industry and careers to middle and high school students. The purpose of the academy is to introduce youth to the world of aviation by exposing them to the many challenging careers and opportunities the industry has to offer. Students will have the opportunity to interact with active professionals from the aviation community, receive career mentoring, take field trips, and see how professionals achieve their goals. The academy will conclude with students taking an orientation flight.

ACE ACADEMY REQUIREMENTS:
The Jacksonville ACE Academy is open to students 13 through 18 years old, who have a desire to learn about aviation. Applicants are ranked based on age, cumulative GPA and recommendations.
• Thirteen-year-old applicants must be rising freshmen
• Attend an accredited high school
• Have maintained a 2.0 GPA or better
• Abide by the rules of the Jacksonville ACE Academy as high stands of behavior and
self-discipline are expected
